The new building looks in first sight very modern and accommodating for the contemporary living style. The food is sophisticated and complex in the design idea but the execution is disappointing. I had the pea bread and it was too salty and not as garlicky as promised. The late macchiato did not have enough coffee, and so it basically tasted like milk. So did the hot chocolate I ordered for my daughter. It is very over priced for you actually get. The most surprising and disappointing was the actual structure of the place. It was not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. I mean - you can enter, and spend your money, but you are limited to indoor sitting. There is a beautiful wheelchair accessible bathroom which is only available to access with 2 stairs (what?!?!). There is also no changing table in the large restroom. When my husband (a wheelchair user, and a German tax payer) asked the manager why a new building is not accessible he was met with endless excuses, some of them simply ridiculous. It is quite disappointing the a new place in Berlin, the city of “inclusion” is allowing such things to happen in 2024. It was obvious that it was over seen and had absolutely action plan. I felt sorry...
Read moreAlmost 5 stars - but not quite. I really liked the place. Very pretty terrace, interior and overall atmosphere. The food was very good and so was the coffee. What I didn’t like, though, was the self service system - or rather, the way it worked. I‘m fine with self service in general but in this case I had to get up once to order, get up another time to get my coffee and a third time to get my food. Same goes for the people I came with. This basically lead to a period of 15min of people coming and going in turns until finally everything was there. I think, this could be improved by at least serving the food and coffee together - so you would only have to pick it up once. I also saw some people getting their drinks brought to the table but we didn’t, for some reason. Maybe I misunderstood the system but it seemed kind of overly complicated. The service staff was extremely friendly though! I‘ll come back for the salmon sour dough...
Read moreIt took really long to place an order, then it took really long for the food to arrive. Surely 45min is too long for a single slice of sourdough bread with two boiled eggs and salmon. The attitude of the server when I asked how long it was going to take was really disappointing— good service should be at the forefront of a place that is trying to cater to a more upscale clientele. I wish the menu was more allergy friendly and more detailed in terms of being specific about what’s in food.
The aesthetics are great, but that’s about the only thing until they step up their service.
Thankfully I live in the neighborhood so the disappointment wasn’t as intense as it would have been if I were coming from another district.
I hope they can improve and hire more staff — two staff members for a place that seats plus minus 15 is...
