We came with a group of people with different skin colors, different nationalities and unfortunately had to experience racism and prejudices against us at this place. We got the recommendation and were curious about the quality of the wine and were rejected by comments of two guests. They made clear in a subtle way that we were not welcome here. When we stood in front of the place someone who was about to enter the place said “beer is not available here” , obviously we came because of the wine. When we entered to ask if we could order something, since they are closing soon the same guest said “ I guess you can but the question is why!” And the other guests were laughing about that unfriendly comment. The waitress tried to be nice but also did not make the misbehavior of her unwelcoming guests clear. I think it’s highly problematic if only people of white skin color and middle class background are welcome at this place. Let’s try to do it better and be nice with each other. Me as a German, who was hanging out with this international group, my friends felt embarrassed about the negative vibes the people in that wine place gave us. The quality of the wine is fine, but still I would not go...
Read moreI went there recently specifically to get some wine as I know the variety and have been there couple times, and I have been given a very strange look from the salesperson/waitress as I entered the shop. I said hello and she kept staring at me with a disgusted look and never even said hello back. So I didn’t know what to do so I stared back with surprise and confusion and she kept staring back, so I asked her if they’re still open - as I suspected that I might have entered when she was closing. She said that they are open but still kept giving me that disgusted stare. I left immediately feeling discriminated. This was the most uncomfortable reaction I have ever gotten from a service provider and I believe there was nothing alarming or confusing from my image or state of physical appearance to get that treatment, aside from the fact that I am a racial minority but I hope(really hope) that it has nothing to do with it. The wine selection is actually quite nice, and usually everyone else is welcoming but I am dreading that stare and will never come back. This is very focused on one staff but i hope the leadership team will at least do a basic workshop on this kind of matters to...
Read moreUnderwhelming. Just went for one glass of wine. The prices are very reasonable, but although I ordered the most expensive white wine (the description was interesting) I ended up with a most boring Riesling. Neither good or bad, just ultra standard. They seem to have very little interesting choices by the glass which is a shame. You can probably get much more interesting wines by the bottle.I also had a creme brulee, which was your standard supermarket one. So quite disappointing . But I guess it's a choice to offer more "affordable products, even with sub par quality. Little details make the difference, and the above mentioned details show little effort. Service is pretty neutral, neither good or bad. Ambiance is...
