A hidden gem near Ostkreuz, nice breakfast & lunch and a delicious coffee & cake place!
Just a few steps from Ostkreuz station, I found Milja & Schäfa — and what was supposed to be a quick coffee stop turned into the highlight of my day.
The sun was shining, the outdoor tables were full of life, and the whole place had this warm, inviting energy. I sat down “just for a minute,” ordered a coffee (which was amazing), and immediately knew I wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The menu was too tempting to ignore — fresh sandwiches, homemade cakes, delicious lunch dishes. I ended up ordering way more than planned, and everything tasted fantastic.
But what truly makes Milja & Schäfa special is the atmosphere: a multicultural, friendly team and the feeling that you’re part of Berlin’s beautiful mix of cultures and lifestyles. Sitting there with the sun on my face, surrounded by the sounds and colors of the city, I felt completely at peace.
This place is pure Berlin magic. Can’t wait...

☝️If you’re looking for good brunch near the train station, they have it—but remind yourself for the service. I asked for a table for two in English, and got an 🙄eye roll and a ✨“Ich habe Ihr Englisch nicht verstanden.” ✨

💥Later, we caught her speaking ✨flawless and fluent English✨ to another table. After our meal, this same waitress conversed effortlessly in English, contradicting her earlier claims of 🙄language barriers🙄.
👋Guess she’s selective about who gets the good service. If you enjoy a side of hypocrisy with your eggs, this place might just be your choice. For me, I would never go there again (maybe I will try again after I look exactly non-Asian and bringing a gang of Germans with me hehe...
Read moreMilja&Schäfa is just beautiful. I've been here so often and everytime totally satisfied. The food is absolutely delicious. The breakfast menu offers you a nice collection of eggs any style to housemade dips or chia pudding with fruits and roasted nuts. And definitely have a croque mademoiselle with king oyster mushrooms and truffle oil. Lunch time is always busy so be fast. They have a variety of pasta, burger or really nice paleo plate. All housemade and really good price for that quality! In the evening they turn this place into a fine dining restaurant. An awesome atmosphere with nice ambient music a very good collection of german and european wine and the menu is just breathtaking. Had a tuna steak there last time which was mouthwatering just when i think of it! And last but not least the really friendly and helpfull service which makes it a pleasant stay and willing to come back. Seems like the owner makes everything they way...
