I received unwelcome treatment while eating here today.
Around 5:30, I sat at a table outside alone, ordered salmon rice, and after finishing my meal, ordered a glass of iced lemon drink. Between meals and drinks, I took out my homework and started writing. Just one minute after the drink was served, the waiter came over and asked me how much longer I had to leave? I said i would leave after finishing my drink. I pondered for a moment and thought that someone might want to sit in this seat. So, two minutes later, when he appeared, I called him and asked if anyone needed a seat and I could sit inside.
He immediately took my drink and walked into a dim corner. I said it was so dark here, but he put down his drink and left without a word. He clearly didn't want me to stay when he brought me to this position. The drink was too cold to finish quickly, so I had to stay a little longer. After I finish checking out, I noticed two men. They arrived earlier than me, and now the table is still empty. The two of them are chatting, each holding a bottle of beer. I don't know if the waiter asked them:How long will it take for you to leave?
This service attitude is very unfriendly, completely disrespected, and treated differently. People who go to this store should...
Read moreIf I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Umami F-hain isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a full-on experience. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with this cozy, dimly-lit vibe that feels like you’ve stepped into a hidden gem. The smell of spices, the soft music, the warm welcome – it all sets the tone.
I’ve eaten at a lot of places in Berlin, but nothing comes close to this. The food? Unreal. Every dish feels like it was made with actual love – rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and beautiful presentation. The Buddha Burger and Red Curry are personal favorites, but honestly, you can close your eyes and point at the menu and still get something incredible.
The service is super friendly and fast without feeling rushed. They actually take time to check on you, but in a way that feels genuine, not forced.
This is my go-to place when I want to show friends what Berlin really has to offer. Not just in terms of food, but in atmosphere, creativity, and soul. Hands down, the best dining experience I’ve had...
Read moreToday I visited Umami with my friend; it was my second time, and she ate here numerous times. It will probably be our last.
My food tasted good (no17 udon noodles with seafood. I'd prefer more al dente noodles), however my friend wasn't satisfied with hers. She got the beef burger, which she ordered several times in the past, but this time it tasted different to her. I don't know if they changed the recipe. I also tasted it, and didn't like the taste of the patty either. Despite the fact that not more than 1/3 was eaten, they initially refused to take it back. They said that she would still have to pay for it, or eat something else in the same price. I've never experienced this in another restaurant.
She ended up eating something cheaper, and at least they deducted the price, so she didn't pay the full price of the burger she didn't eat. Ideally, one shouldn't have to pay for something they sent back. Not liking the taste is a valid reason. The way the situation was handled was...
