Monarch Bar — Restaurant in Berlin

The Monarch is the first bar I ever visited in Berlin. That was about 6 years ago. Today I still visit it often and it kept the same atmosphere as before : it is smoky as hell, the music is good, the drinks are reasonably priced and the crowd is usually nice. They have a kicker for those who didn't come for the music 😉 In general you have to pay a small cover fee of 3-6 euros to get in and you should expect to leave smelly and in great need of a shower. I went there for a concert so my experience may not be comparable to regular visitor's. The place is tiny and cozy. The acoustics is ok-ish. Judging by the menu it's rather a whisky bar than beer bar. They do have 2 or 3 beers, that I wouldn't recommend. Anyway, whatever you will drink you'll end up with hangover from the amount of cigarette smoke you'll soak with. The windows were shut and there was no air exchange. But maybe it was specifically...

Ich war mit meinem alten Freund aus der Ferne unterwegs. Wir wollten in einen Club gehen und ein wenig Berlin kennen lernen.

Leider waren wir nicht hipp genug, konnten die Frauenquote nicht verbessern und sahen einfach nur aus wie ganz normale Menschen. Wir hatten zu dem Zeitpunkt ca. 3 Bier getrunken. Wir waren nicht betrunken, nicht mal ansatzweise angetrunken.

Ich frage mich, auf welcher Grundlage die Dame am Eingang es entscheiden konnte, dass wir nicht reinkommen. Das Gespräch am Eingang glich einem Vorstellungsgespräch eines Unternehmen. Wie kann man sich selbst als tolerant verstehen aber keineswegs Toleranz zeigen? Das ist eine Lüge an sich selbst, die ich nie verstehen werde.

Es ist einfach super schade. Wir hätten sehr gerne noch das ein oder andere Bier in dem Club trinken wollen.. wir sind beide Mitte 30 und keineswegs auf der Suche nach Vergnügungen jeglicher andere Art.

Ich werde nie wieder zu euch kommen und werde allen Menschen die ich kenne von diesem Club abraten. Grundsätzliche Werte von Berlin wie Freiheit und Toleranz sind hier nicht Willkommen. Hier...
