DO NOT EVER COME HERE unless you want to be verbally assaulted. I was verbally assaulted for asking for tap water. One of the WORST customer services I've ever experienced. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
While ordering dinner, I asked for tap water along with my meal because I didn’t need bottled. The server (a thin man with short brown hair who was wearing a hat and black jeans, around 30 years old), rudely asserted that I should be ordering bottled and sparkling water because it is sold at the restaurant, and that’s what you come to a restaurant to do. I calmly said I am fine with tap water. He started going on a rant about how it costs money to clean water, and that’s why I should not be requesting tap water. Finally, he agreed to give me tap water and he demanded that I make up for it in tips.
When I went to pay at the end of the meal, I did not tip him because of his rude treatment earlier in the meal. He told me that tips are not included, and that servers rely on that. I calmly explained to him that I usually tip servers, but I did not tip him because he was rude to me at the table. He then said “Okay, then don’t come back to the restaurant!”, and walked away.
I have never in my life been talked to or treated that way at a restaurant. It is unacceptable, and I hope that Sudblock considers establishing higher standards for customer service for...

The place looks nice and the food is okay, but the waiters just ruin everything for Südblock. Even before the waitress spoke, we felt like we did something wrong just by coming to the restaurant. The staff doesn’t care about the guest or even the quality of their work, let alone have any love for their restaurant. They are not even in it for the money, because their behavior probably doesn’t get them many tips.
My friend got her purse stolen (which was safely placed between two people) while the waiters were watching it happen. They had already identified the thieves as bad people and asked them to leave, but then when they saw them leave holding her purse, they did nothing. Off course stuff likes this happens, yet it is the waiters responsibility that their guests leave happy and that everyone stays safe. Rule number one is that you don’t let their purse get stolen right from under your nose! And even when it happens you don’t acte like it is your guests fault, you try to empathize with them to make them feel a little better. I would be horrified if this was...

If ever I’m going on a date, meeting a friend or welcoming family from outside of town I like to bring them here. It’s vibrant, easy to get to and a lot of fun.
The staff are all excellent, very friendly and they work fast. Sometimes you’ll see a long queue to place your order but don’t let that worry you, it moves very fast and the people who prepare the drinks work quickly.
If you’re not a local Südblock is a good place to practice your German. I’m still learning but I find the staff taking orders are friendly and go slowly if they hear you are trying. And if all else fails they are happy to switch to English.
It’s a good place for cake with a lot of tasty options. They serve good food until late so you really can spend a long time here.
Südblock is very easy to get to via u-bahn so you don’t have to walk far which can be a point of concern for more vulnerable members of society.
It has a spacious, and fun interior. The outdoor area is very large, colorful and nearly all the tables are covered over.
One of the best...
