I was going to give this place 5 stars but unfortunately we had a very bad experience with one of the staff members toward the end. We were laying naked in the relaxing room when we heard a phone camera take two pictures. This was obviously very stressful as we were supposed to be in a safespace with signs everywhere that no phones are allowed. When we turned around we saw it was one of the staff members taking pictures with a friend who had their job interview there. We went up to reception and tried to notify someone that it feels unsafe when the staff does not keep to the rules (it says no phones allowed downstairs). After 5 minutes the staff member we complained to waited with the staff member who took the photos on us to ‘tell us something’. The person who took the photos said they wanted to apologise but then instead got very defensive and tried to talk their way out of it by saying they only took selfies and not pictures of us. When we tried to explain that still people downstairs felt unsafe with a phone camera in a safespace where we were naked they became more defensive and literally just said “I work here, rules don’t apply to me”. That was obviously really upsetting so we tried again to tell them that if you hear a camera when you relax naked, you feel stressed because you don’t know what’s on the picture and what not. Also if you don’t know that person is a staff member, other people might see this behaviour and think it’s okay taking pictures too. They didn’t even try to understand and only replied with “trust me bro I work here it’s okay”. Honestly if they would’ve just apologised for making people feel unsafe and not relaxed it would’ve been fine but the fact that we stood there for over 5 minutes being lectured on how we were wrong and they can do what they want truly ruined an otherwise really nice day for us. I’m commenting this in the hope that one of the other employees at least understands our perspective and makes sure that no pictures in a safespace full of naked people is taken. And if none of the other staff replies then our bad experience can at least serve to warn people who are thinking...
Read moreEDIT: I just edit to let you all know that I recently went to the Sultan Hamam in Bülowstraße and it is amazing. I recommend you go there instead. By comparison, the Schockofabrik Hamam is very outdated, small, unprofessional and I’m sorry to say dirty. Go to Sultan Hamam instead.
It is hard for me to leave three stars because I really loved this place. But it seems to be going a bit downhill. The prices of entry and for basic services continue to be increased but the services do not increase in kind—of course there is a war and things are more expensive, I understand.
However, I went to the hamam last week with a reserved treatment ahead of time. When I arrived that day I was told that the sauna was not functioning and that they would offer me a 5 EUR discount off the entry.
I find it unprofessional that they would not call their clients with bookings ahead of time to notify us that the sauna was broken and offer a chance to reschedule. 5 EUR as a discount from a 25 EUR entrance fee is also really insufficient when the sauna is broken. Without the sauna, all one can really do is take a bath in the washroom. Luckily I had a treatment booked, but the sauna is the most important part for me and I’m sure many other visitors. I use the sauna to treat a health condition and I would have changed my booking had I known the sauna was broken. I made the booking weeks in advance and there was plenty of time to let me know ahead of time.
Apart from this, my Kese & Sabunlama started 10 mins late because the attendant was on her smoke break during my appointment time. The time lost was not added on to my treatment at the end. This may sound small, but 10 minutes off of a treatment that is only 30 minutes is quite a lot. When I asked the desk attendant about this she was very dismissive.
All in all, I think that individuals there need to work on their customer service and professionalism. Other reviews also reflect this. I have been here many times and see things changing.
This is a special place in Berlin, and I would love to see it flourish. But it seems instead to be decaying a bit. Hope they can get...
Read moreVery unprofessional and unkind. I book 1 hour massage recently in their web page that cost 64 € . During the process of buying it I was not warned about anything . When I got there (what seemed to be the boss) informed me that I had to pay an extra 18€ to enter the Haman even I didn´t wanted to use it. Obviously I didn´t have the right clothes or towel to come in. I explained her that I was not informed about it when I bought it online and offer her to pay for the Haman and use it another day, also I offer to cancel my massage and/or change it for another day so I would have time to use the Haman and have the massage. She rejected everything and directly told me: This is a Haman, you have to pay for it! and she left. By luck another woman (that seemed to be new there in the business) was much more nicer and professional than her boss. At the end, I payed 64 € for the massage and 22€ ( 18€ + 4€ for a towel )= 86€ for 1 hour massage and a very unkind and ugly situation.
Also, in the website says it is 2G+ . I went with my fresh test but they told me : "No..... that is not necessary here"
Obviously I...
