The restaurant Sale e Pane is not too big, but it has an outdoor area that is especially enjoyable in good weather and this Italian in the heart of Steglitz is always well visited. That's why we advise you to make reservations in advance, preferably by phone. The website of the Sale e Pane is responsive and therefore suitable for mobile devices, but the content is rather spartan and hardly more than a digital business card.

As soon as you enter the restaurant, the guest is welcomed very friendly at the spacious counter area and you feel at home from the very first minute - even if it may be your first visit. The seats, chairs and benches are made out of wood, the walls are partly plastered, as one knows it from Italian restaurants. The entire guest room is decorated here and there with appealing equipment, such as fresh fruit or a selection of "exotic" pumpkin varieties, oils or decorative aperitif bottles.

The design of the two-part guest room has been carried out with love. The tables are decorated with red and white chequers. On the tables there are high-quality fabric napkins, always a small but fine flower decoration, a good olive oil together with the obligatory balsamic as well as per guest a water and a wine glass. Already here one notices that Sale e Pane claims to be a traditional, authentic but in any case, modern Italian Ristorante. The bar contains many Italian, but also international delicacies of the category "contains alcohol" as well as the classic portfolio of espresso variations.

The lighting situation in the front part of the restaurant is good - in the rear part it could be much brighter, so that the culinary highlights can be put in the right light even better.

The waiters were friendly, courteous and quick - once a glass was empty, they reacted immediately. Our wishes were read from our lips. Proctive & creative suggestions from the menu are part of this Ristorante.

With a little more variety, selected and tasty olives that can shine even without additional herbs & salt we would have been even happier. Especially noteworthy is the bread in Sale e Pane - this alone is reason enough for a visit there.

Our carpaccio was very fresh, the meat very thin, it had - as it should be - room temperature, but the rocket salad was too much for us and only a little nutty and slightly bitter. A good organic product could certainly add the finishing touches here. The olive oil was very tasty and the Parmesan was a poem. Also, the Vitello Tonnato tasted very good to us.

As a starter we recommend to every guest to try the speciality of the house the Calamaretti. In addition to the imaginative decoration of the plate, this starter shines with its freshness and the composition of different textures. A real treat for the palate, and as a prelude to an Italian hardly to be topped without the desire for the main dishes to flatter.

The pizzas in Sale e Pane are an absolute must-have in the district in terms of craftsmanship, appearance and taste. Until now, we had opted for the classic - the Pizza Margherita - sometimes simply, sometimes with buffalo mozzarella and were rewarded each time with a culinary highlight.

As pasta we often had spaghetti Aglio Olio with gambas. These were always tasted properly and served with fresh shrub tomatoes and a little hot paprika to please the eye.

Also, the steaks are always a good choice in Sale e Pane. The chef knows a lot about good meat and therefore he also buys such meat. We've never had a runaway with a steak`s cooking degree before, and as with all side dishes, broccoli, spinach, carrots and potatoes always with a perfect look and consistency.

If there is still room for sweets, we recommend the homemade tiramisu - here completely without egg & alcohol and therefore also suitable for pregnant women ad drivers.

We also want to mention the cordiality of the whole team, which makes sure that this Ristorante can become "the Italian around the corner". From us a clear YES for a visit in the Sale e Pane in Berlin Steglitz!

Went there for a dinner date and it was really good. First of the service is absolutely fantastic 👏. Very attentive, not pushy and extremely friendly but also very professional. I unfortunately have to mention that I found a hair in the soup. When I told the waiter, he immediately apologized and you could tell he actually cared. Removed the plate right away and brought a fresh made one which was even better made than the first one. It's embarrassing but to be honest sometimes mistakes just happen. How they handled the situation and the overall quality of the food was top notch. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy and I like the interior design and style of the location. I'd come back and I recommend...
