Weâve been coming here fairly regularly the last few years. The food and coffee were pretty decent and the staff was pretty nice (despite a few weird quirks like their pumpkin spice latte having no coffee in it, just milk and a shake of pumpkin spice - what???) The decor is hilarious (thatâs the most generous thing I can say about it) but the place is spacious and makes for a comfortable place to have breakfast, especially if you have young kids.
However, I think the ownership or management changed recently because we went a few weeks ago and it was very different. Our menemen was barely warm and the egg in it was almost raw. The bread it was served with was also underdone. I get that everyone can have an off day but Iâve worked in a lot of restaurants in my time and I donât know how you can let food like that go out. Not just the kitchen staff, but also the person serving it. We ate it anyway and didnât complain. But what really moved me to write a negative review is what happened afterward.
Everything was perfectly cordial, as I said we didnât complain about the food, we tipped, ate quietly while 3 Kellner stood behind the counter talking and laughing and doing nothing (it was quiet and they were overstaffed) and when we went to leave we were halfway out the door when one of them yelled to us that we needed to pick up our dishes and bring them to the bin at the back. I was speechless. Granted I do almost always pick up my own dishes, but this has always been just a nice extra thing to do as a customer to make the staffs life a little easier. I guess because we were deep in conversation, there were empty tables with dishes on them all around us, and everyone who worked there was not working, we just left them. In other words, acted like normal customers at a normal cafe, that is a cafe, and not our house. Where people are hired and paid, to do things to run a cafe, like take orders, bring food, pick up dishes, clean the bathrooms, polish forks, refill the drink fridge, etc. Iâve never been held hostage from leaving a place or been talked to that way before and it really had me shaking with anger.
Too bad, this place was a semi regular one for us. We...
Read moreNice find in Wedding nearby Seestr. U bahn station. Trendy and vibrant cafe serving healthy (and not so healthy) food choices. Perhaps a little too cool for me, but.....nevertheless.....
Service was fantastic and seating both inside and out. WiFi and enough comfortable seating to make this a good working alternative or just a nice place to chill.
Coffee was well prepared, if not a little hot for my taste, but not too bad.
Choice of fresh cakes/pastries are great here, and the food menu is rammed full of healthy options intermingled with not so healthy pancakes which, according to the kids were amazing although far too large a portion for them to finish (which does not happen often).
Overall, a really easy recommendation and, in this area at least, a bit of a rarity, so give it a go. You wint be...
Read moreEditing my earlier comment: A couple of weeks ago, we visited this place and were told they had no iceâprobably due to an accident, which was understandable. Today, we got our coffees after waiting a few minutes while they counted the money in the tip box. âŹ5.10 for an iced Americano, pricey but still acceptable however the ice cubes we paid extra âŹ0.80 melted in under two minutes. The coffee was still okayish but the price and service were really disappointing.
