Standard Pizza West — Restaurant in Berlin

I went to the other Standard a number of times and always had a great experience and great pizza – predictably good.

I expected that the same standards would apply to Standard West but we didn't have the same experience. I have to say that my pizza with Bresaola was tasty – although I little heavy maybe. My wife's Margherita was burned at the bottom. They were nice enough and remade it for us, although the waiter said that's how it's supposed to be. Which is not! There's plenty of other pizzerie napoletane in Berlin where the pizza is cooked and yet not burned. Including the other Standard. I don't mind paying the Berlin market price for a good pizza. However, I expect it to be tasty and cooked to perfection. Not burned, not undercooked.

Bread and olives are appreciated, but it'd be nice to have a little transparency (and maybe given a choice) over the fact that they'll charge you for it. That's the norm in Italy but definitely...

The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, with a staff that is both courteous and attentive. The meal commenced with a complimentary bread and breadstick platter, accompanied by a sun-dried tomato tapenade that was both flavorful and well-balanced. The bruschetta was commendable, though the Caesar salad failed to rise above mediocrity.

Despite the ample portions, the quality of the ingredients left much to be desired. The pizza dough, in particular, suffered from over-kneading, rendering it excessively dense and challenging to cut, even with a sharp knife. An unexpected charge for what was labeled as “specially filtered” tap water further diminished the overall experience. While the restaurant holds potential, it currently delivers a rather average culinary offering. I might consider revisiting if in the vicinity, but it’s not a destination I would actively seek out for...

I use to come in this pizza place often, as I also use the delivery service, both usually gave me really nice experience in terms of food and service. Yesterday I organize an informal meeting and unfortunately the service was really unpleasant, no suggestions of asked simply request refused, rude behavior, I was still eating my pizza, literally chewing in mouth with another slice next be eaten and waiters said “should I pack it as a take away?”. In addition we were waiting for the last order forever and when we asked about we got as an answer “I hope”. The quality of the food was not as always unfortunately. I just hope it was a single episode as a result of a not organized shift or so. I will still give a chance and come back but not organize meeting in...
