I had: 5 Tacos Campechano 1 Fritz Cola 1 Agua de Jamaica Total: 20,50€
Detailed review: I do not give 5 stars lightly. Taquito Mio is just how a traditional taqueria is supposed to be. I had Tacos Campechano and tried all their salsas, everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. I love their approach that you can decide what salsas to go with your tacos freely by self service. I usually eat tacos at tortilleria mexa, which seems to be the gold standard here, and was pretty surprised when I tried the tacos at Taquito Mio and found them even better. I am not sure how to compare the tortillas, Taquito Mio has softer tortillas with a less strong corn taste which I personally prefer, but what convinced me was the amazing campechano topping along with the variety of salsas. The staff is very uncomplicated, loving and approachable, clearly people who love what they do. In the end I stayed for almost two hours studying and sipping on agua de jamaica, a kind of light berry-fruity ice tea kind of drink that was super refreshing. I wish I could have tried more food, pretty much everything on their menu sounded amazing and I had only room for one dish. I will return...
Read moreI recently dined at Taquito Mio and my experience left me feeling disappointed. Unfortunately, the atmosphere of the restaurant was unwelcoming, and I felt like I wasn't getting my money's worth due to the small portion sizes and high prices. In fact, I felt like I was being scammed. As someone who values and respects Mexican culture and cuisine, I also felt uncomfortable with the way the restaurant seemed to be appropriating and gentrifying this culture. I believe that it's important for businesses to honor and respect cultural traditions and to provide a fair and welcoming experience to all customers. I hope that the management at Taquito Mio will take my feedback into consideration and work to improve their offerings, pricing, and overall approach. In any case, better to avoid this place.
RESPONSE TO TAQUITO MIO MANAGEMENT: Oh, how interesting! It's quite a coincidence that every single worker at your restaurant happens to be German. How convenient! I suppose it's too much to ask for you to remember all the couples who visit your establishment. But let's talk about something else: even if the owner happens to be a fancy, bourgeois Mexican, it still falls under the category of cultural gentrification. Tacos have always been the beloved food of the working class, you see? And to have the audacity to charge nearly 20 euros for a measly three tacos, each smaller than my pinky finger, is simply outrageous. But hey, who am I to question your excessive pricing and cultural appropriation, right?
By the way, considering the numerous authentic Mexican restaurants in Berlin, it's truly a shame that anyone would waste their hard-earned money on such a scam.
Read moreBest so far in Berlin. As someone who lived in Mexico for several years. I miss my tacos. A lot. El Oso is a great benchmark. But the overwhelmingly positive reviews here don’t lie. They have amazing Piratas with pineapple. Their suadero is sublime and al Pastor on point. The taste comparison is subjective compared to others, based on where you had/ tried tacos before. You won’t be disappointed here, maybe a bit with the vegetarian options, but just a bit But what makes this place king/ queen for me is the setting. El Oso almost ALWAYS has giant lineups and there is a long wait. I visited this place twice (weekday evenings) and both time was chilled, nice (but limited) outdoor seating...
