What I liked: The interior was pleasant, with a cozy atmosphere and nice music played at a comfortable volume.
What could be improved: The cutlery was brought on a napkin, but the fork was placed with its prongs directly on the table, which was unfortunately covered in bread crumbs — not just a few, but a lot of. I ordered carbonara pasta and black tea. The tea arrived after about five minutes, but no sugar was offered. When I asked for it, a sugar bowl was brought to the table, but before I had the chance to use it — while I was finishing a message on my phone — it was taken away and placed on another table. I didn’t feel like asking again, so I drank the tea without sugar. About 30 minutes later, a waiter asked me whether I had received my food. When I said no, he went to check. Another 20 minutes passed, and I was served a pasta dish — but it wasn’t carbonara, it was a different kind, with red fish. I asked, “Is this carbonara?” The waitress who brought it looked surprised and said, “Oh, did you order carbonara? Sorry.” She took the plate away — along with my fork. Five minutes later, carbonara was finally brought to me, but without any cutlery. The server left immediately, and I didn’t have the chance to ask for a new fork. I had to wait another five minutes for someone to walk by so I could ask. It was a bit frustrating to sit hungry in front of a cooling plate of pasta, unable to eat. In the final bill, I was charged for the pasta with red fish instead of the carbonara — which is more expensive. I only noticed this after I had already paid and walked about 50 meters away from the café. I didn’t go back, as my mood was already spoiled.
When I arrived, the café was only half full, so I don’t think the issues were due to being understaffed. Later on, it did become quite busy and seemed popular.
One additional detail: my order was taken by one waiter, the wrong dish was brought by a different waitress, and the bill was handled by yet another staff member. This may have contributed to...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time at Trattoria Cinque. We have just returned from Italy after a week of eating pasta, pizza, tiramisu, gelato and sipping Aperols, we couldn't resist and chose to eat out at an Italian restaurant in Berlin as well. And not only it didn't disappoint, but we received a fantastic service: delicious food, polite, friendly staff, a warm welcome, an exquisite venue, we felt as if we never truly left Italy 🇮🇹. Moreover, the waiter was fond of the Romanian culture, he talked to us in Romanian, we chatted a little bit an Italian, we simply felt fantastic. Berlin really is a world in miniature, and this restaurant, Trattoria Cinque, impersonates Italia at its finest....
