Batho Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

I really wanted to like this place, since I hang out at Boxhagener Platz often, but here was my experience: Even though the website says they're open till 23:30, I arrived at 22:00 and they appeared to be closing up their outside area, and seemed annoyed that I was there at all.

They took my order very quickly, which was good. I ordered the Thom Kha Gai soup and the Thai Chili bowl with crispy chicken. I ordered it SPICY. The food came very fast. The main came while I was still eating the soup, which was good!

The Thom Kha was decent, but the Thai Chili bowl was barely spicy at all, and came with regular soft chicken, not crispy! I asked for them to refund the up-charge for crispy, which they did, but I was overall disappointed by the food. I came to an Asian restaurant because I wanted it to be spicy and it wasn't!! Never got to taste the food. They need at least 3 more waiters, 2 more cooks in the kitchen. The waiter was almost running from one table to another. He tried his best, but our experience was quite bad.

One shouldn't bother going there on a friday/saturday night. Personally, I wouldn't even order online from there.

They forgot the starters (it is a human thing, can happen. Especially with that stress). After 90 minutes of waiting, 8 of 10 people received their main dishes, which were lukewarm. After that we also waited for the cutlery, ended up getting it ourselves 😅 Taste was apparently ok according to the friends.

They are also bad at calculating what was cancelled, what they forgot to serve etc. As said, it was quite chaotic, none whatsoever bad intentions.

Luckily, there a falafel place...

Normally I am not impressed easily by a Vietnamese restaurant serving sushi, but this restaurant is such a pleasing exception in the trendy Boxi area. Sushi fish in rice bowl (Blue Ocean is the name if i am not mistaken) is such a great combination of freshness, flavourfulness and taste, with very fresh and tender butter fish, salmon and tuna. The salad and the sauce are fresh and balance the taste of the whole dish very well. Second impressive thing is the atmosphere and interior of the restaurant, which show owner's dedication to every details to create a most aesthetic, pleasant and cozy environment possible.
