A Hidden Gem of Gluten-Free Excellence – Trattoria Senza

From the very first step into Trattoria Senza, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled in an unassuming corner, this restaurant is nothing short of a culinary revelation—especially for those of us who live gluten-free. What unfolded was one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in recent years.

We started our journey with a classic carbonara, rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. The pasta was al dente, smooth, and flavorful—it’s truly unbelievable that it was entirely gluten-free. Following that, the lasagna arrived at the table, and it was the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes with the first bite. Layers of delicate pasta and slow-cooked ragù came together in a harmony that would rival any traditional trattoria in Italy.

And then came dessert. Oh, the desserts! We tried both the tiramisu and the torta caprese al limone. The tiramisu was light yet decadent, with espresso-soaked layers balanced by a cloud of mascarpone—an absolute dream. The torta caprese al limone was a revelation: moist, fragrant, and bursting with citrus, it melted in the mouth and lingered with the perfect touch of sweetness.

To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a glass of Syrah Vendemmia 2023. It was robust and elegant, with just the right amount of spice and depth to pair beautifully with both the pasta and dessert courses. An excellent choice by any measure.

What truly elevated the entire evening was the service, led by Nacho, our waiter. Beyond being utterly charming, Nacho was attentive, warm, and impressively professional. He anticipated our needs with grace, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening. His presence added that extra touch of magic that made the experience unforgettable.

Being a queer/trans couple It is not often you encounter a place where culinary excellence, warmth, and inclusivity come together so seamlessly. Trattoria Senza doesn’t just serve gluten-free food—it redefines it. If you are searching for authenticity, creativity, and genuine heart, look no further.

Bravissimo. We will be...

Interesting new Italian eatery just opened up in a very competitive area of Mitte.

It's very close to Torstaße and as a result needs to be on top of its game if it has any chance of succeeding.

Cheap Italian pizza and pasta restaurants are very numerous in this area but this is not one of these!

This is a niche Italian restaurant specialising in gluten and lactose free Italian staples like Carbanara and Lasagne.

The ambience in the restaurant is rather interesting with a glass fronted kitchen so you can see into the inner workings of a busy professional kitchen. Nice touch. A unique glass elevator takes you downstairs (you can use the stairs!) to the toilets. It's a little 'clinical for my tastes but if modern is your thing, you will like it.

Service was great. Attentive and knowledgeable. Perfect balance.

The food was also well above par. My carbanara was perfectly prepared and the lasagne my wife had was equally well cooked.

Salad was a little bland and needed something to lift it up.

Only 2 small issues that need to be mentioned was that

  1. we waited for a good 40mins for our main courses, which i felt was not justified as it was not a completely full sitting when we were there and
  2. for the money I really expected to be blown away by hand made pasta but, unfortunately, the pasta on all our dishes certainly did not taste or look like hand made to us.

I ended the meal with a very stodgy dessert I couldn't have finished even if I had wanted to.

All in all at €150 for 3 people, value for money is definitely lacking here.

Recommended?....possibly with caveats. If value is not your number one priority and you need lactose or gluten free then give it a try as you probably won't be disappointed. Otherwise, there are far better Italian offerings...

#72hrs_true_italian_food: I visited this restaurant as part of the food festival on my birthday 🎂

🕵🏻‍♀️ First impression: the menu is small, so you don’t waste time choosing; gluten and lactose-free options; the atmosphere is simple and friendly; the interior is bright, clean, and well-kept; the restroom is excellent; attentive service; a popular spot.

✌🏻Pomotion order included Eggplant Parmigiana (Baked eggplant with vegan (!) cheese and tomato paste) and a glass of Spritz.

I asked if there were any special offers for birthdays, and they offered to make me a author cocktail. 🍆 The eggplant was a bit too salty due to the tomato base being baked in the oven. Sensitive stomachs might get heartburn 🔥

🍹The signature sour cocktail was good — mildly sweet with a nice tang.

🍲 Food delivery and service were quite fast, even with the main hall fully seated and several tables on the summer terrace. The team works in great sync! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Attentive, friendly, and clearly on the customer’s side! 💎

Of course, they didn’t let me leave without some cake 😉 🥮 Torta Caprese — rich chocolate flavor, but a bit dry, so definitely order it with something else — cream alone won’t cut it.

🥺 We had a small mistake on the bill, but the waiter corrected it immediately without question, apologized, and even offered us another Spritz on the house. 🍸🥹💛

✅ Conclusion: right place for meetings with friends, chatting, chill. The hall at down floor is perfect for romantic dinner without...
