The food was good and the atmosphere was quite nice, but one of the waitresses was really rude. As I was enjoying my food I took out my own water bottle, which granted, isn't the most polite thing to do in a restaurant but it was just tap water i took with me and i didn't think much of it. The second time I was sipping from my bottle one of the waitresses walked past and just said "we dont like to see that around here". I said oh sorry and put away the bottle, feeling kind of bad but also annoyed because she could've just directly asked me to not consume drinks from outside of the restaurant. Instead, she chose to eye at me the whole time while I was eating my food, making me feel very uncomfortable, and at the end of the meal as I was putting my bottle into my bag (I had it under my jacket before), she saw the opportunity and took it to aggressively say "the consumption of drinks from outside of the restaurant is not allowed in here!" in the most unbelievably rude german tone you could imagine. I did not even drink from my bottle after the first time she asked me not to. I looked her in the eyes and replied "I know, I am just putting it into my bag." She said okay and walked away. She was also kinda rude while we were paying, saying "oh, you don't have it in cash?" as my friend wanted to pay with her card.
The nerve of this lady was quite something. It's one thing to ask a customer to respect a restaurants rules, but it's another thing when you just straight up make them feel unwelcome and wait on the next opportunity to pounce on them and try to make them feel even worse. It makes it difficult to enjoy the food at all. She ruined the whole experience for me.
3/5 stars for the food 1/5 stars for service because the other staff was nice 3/5 for atmosphere...
Read moreStaff is really friendly and explained me basically the whole menu. She recommended me a noodle soup that I also took. The noodle soup was the least strong and it tasted a little fade. I would maybe recommend the strongest one (just ask for it so you can taste anything). The noodles were firm like real Japanese ones, but a little too thick. I think it is not possible to make them any thinner by the chef who makes the noodle by hand. The garnish in the noodle soup were not really special, but it was very color full. The gyoza was delicious, it had a little sweet after taste that I kind of like. The Curry was in my opinion the most accurate dish of them all it tasted very good and the chicken was very tender (usually served with beef, but chicken was also good). If you are looking for a quick lunch and want noodle soup this is the place to go. If you are looking for something special, this place will show you how your noodles are made in front of your eyes (if you go to the main window). If you have high expectations to the noodle soup you are maybe not at the right place, but I would recommend you to take a look at it and maybe take gyoza and the curry instead of the noodles. I would give 5 stars for the staff and the ambience and 3-4 stars...
Read more2 stars because the noodles are handpulled and the gyoza weren't bad. Everything else was terrible. The tonkotsu broth had no flavor whatsoever. Not even a hint of pork bone. My suspicion is that it was hot water with a bit of soy milk for fake creaminess and color. No tare or oil, meaning no complex flavors or even saltiness whatsoever. The noodles were overcooked. The toppings lazy. Pork belly was dry, chewy and undersalted. The menu is very funny. One dish says it contains chicken in German, pork in English, and then mysteriously is marked as vegetarian. Lots of typos and other errors. I wanted to be constructive and pointed out to the waitress that "chicken katsu" and "tori katsu" is exactly the same thing (both were on the menu), to which she abruptly replied "no you're wrong". I mean it's great that you decide to open a restaurant cooking a certain country's cuisine and use their language in your menu, but maybe learn the absolute basic food vocab and cooking techniques first. Or skip on trying too hard and just focus on making a good broth, good flavor oil, and serve them with your already impressive handpulled noodle. I would enjoy that...
