I wanted to visit this place for months but never got the chance. Finally, I went recently and I must say, it’s not a place to be missed! Everything, from the food and drinks to the ambience and especially the staff, is spot on.
A special shoutout to the staff. They are incredibly friendly, always smiling and make you feel truly welcome. I have never been greeted this warmly in any cafe or restaurant in Berlin.
Now, coming to the food, we tried: Edamame – Fresh and flavorful Bottled Pomegranate Iced Tea – Tasted good but was not chilled enough Ginger-Lemon Tea – Very refreshing Dumplings – We ordered the large all-in option, which includes 32 pieces (16 pan-fried and 16 steamed). It’s perfect for two light-to-moderate eaters.
The dumplings are colorful, as you can see in the pictures. Each color represents a different filling, which can be identified using the menu. The staff informs you about them, but we got confused between 3–4 options because some colors look quite similar. It would be great if they reconsidered the color choices for better clarity.
They have also introduced a new dip (I don’t remember the exact name, but it had something to do with chili). My personal favorite was the spicy one, while I didn’t enjoy the others as much. As for the dumplings themselves, my favorites were the Ricotta and the Bro-Shi-To. Pan-fried is what I loved over steamed (usually it's the other way round)
One important note—if you are expecting traditional dumplings, you might be disappointed. These are not your typical dumplings but rather a creative twist on them.
Overall, this place is definitely...
Read moreWe are a dumpling-loving family (two parents, one teen, one pre-teen)! Earlier this century my husband and I lived in Kathmandu (home of the momo), and when we came across this absolute gem of a restaurant in Berlin we were tickled pink.
And then we were tickled delicious! Terrific assortment of fillings and accompanying sauces. When we went in the man working in the front was as friendly, as helpful as could be, and spoke beautiful English. We got ours as takeaway and he kindly wrote on all the boxes what was inside.
We found the momo skin itself to be very authentic (it's thicker than a Japanese gyoza or Chinese wonton), and all the different fillings / sauces we got were very...
Read moreI walked from Friedrichshain to get to this place, not because I had to, I just wanted to. Frankly I would walk to a different country for these dumplings, they were everything I hoped for and more. Super inventive flavours, lovely dough (perfect thickness and an amazing variety of colours) and I really don't think it's that expensive considering the quality of the food and the effort put into it. I had the veggie experience / combo box as I wanted to try all of the flavours, and my only regret is that I didn't get a double portion (I shared with my boyfriend). I would come bac here in a...
