Weinstube Spitzhäuschen — Restaurant in Bernkastel-Kues

So. I don't know much about the food or prices there, but... I think this our experience is an indication that it's a nice place and NOT just a touristy photo op: we were in Bernkastel-Kues for the big, knockdown dragout Weinfest the first week of September. We were visiting a wintner (a friend of a friend) directly across the alleyway from the Spitzhäschen sitting outside of his little storefront boozing up his excellent wine. My wife needed to use the toilet but our mutual friend didn't have one in the shop so he walked across to the CLOSED Spitzhäschen and asked the proprietor if my wife could use his facilities. He graciously let her so she didn't have to fight the crowd to go to the portapotties. I'd say that is as good a recommendation as...

Top venue. The building is superb! Not too much focus on the flavor profiles of the wines, but their probemenu, their tasting menu is interesting. We did not like the first 5 wines of the dry/feinherb menu, the last one was a 6.5/10. We were with the two of us and glad we order only 1 plank to try. You get like 6 times 0,1 liter. So practically a bottle of wine. We intended to take the auslese tasting menu, but it was a bit much, so settled for a single beerenauslese glass of I thought 2003. Unfortunately also this wine underwhelmed us. For us the wine is not the having the flavour profile and signature we like.

All in all, it is a fun place to try some wines close...

So ein wunderbares Häuschen, mit so viel Potential, was nicht ausgeschöpft wird. Außen wunderschön und wenn man rein kommt, ist man erstmal enttäuscht, es ist kalt und es fehlt die Definitiv die liebe zum Detail, obwohl man mit Kleinigkeiten dort sehr viel Gemütlichkeit rein bringen könnte. Es war kalt die Bedienung(Besitzerin?) hatte keine Lust ,es werden keine Beilagen zur Weinprobe angeboten und unsere Anfrage auf käse und co. Nachgekommen, aber man hatte fast keine lust es anzunehmen, da es nicht erwünscht ist! Die Weinproben sind süß gemacht und anscheinend läuft es ja,ein bisschen mehr Erklärung zu den weinen ,wäre schön. Also leider würde ich es nicht empfehlen, die Weine sind nicht so berauschend und dad highlight ist definitiv das Häuschen von außen. Deswegen wird ja quasi 1 Euro für das rein gucken verlangt, ich denke es ist dem...
