Schumann's — Restaurant in Bonn

Cozy terrace and nice location, but mediocre service and meals that overpromise, but sadly underdeliver.

Positioned in the beautiful ‘Südstadt’ this restaurant has a lovely corner location with a nice terrace. Surrounded by hedges one does feel comfy here, if it wasn’t for a slightly stiff, grumpy and inattentive waiter.

The restaurant’s menu is promising, with an offering that leaves you hoping for a quality food experience and prices to match. Sadly, the meals don’t live up to the restaurants aspiration.

Depending on the day and luck with the waiter: your schnitzel may not come with the side you selected the “burrata with roasted tomatoes and nuts” has a raw and sundried tomatoes only, with no nuts in side fish / meats at times are served in a deep plate on top of their sides making for an awkward experience in cutting / eating

All in all, just not quite what you’d hope for in this location and for this kind of price / positioning range. Quality, service and creativeness all need some improvements. Presentation of meals and location however...

An absolutely lovely dinner dining experience. We ordered the schnitzel and tomato soup which came with a potato salad and also a platter of bread and a lovely sour type dip. The meal was delicious in every way. The schnitzel came with a berry jam like Lyndon berry jam and the breading was so crispy but light. It did not feel heavily fried or difficult to chew or digest as some schnitzels do. Definitely plan on coming again. This restaurant is on the pricier side, but it is well worth it for the quality and quickness of service and...

Wir waren zu viert (2 Pärchen) zu Gast in Bonn und waren, nach einem kulturreichen Tag und etlichen Fußmärschen quer durch die Stadt, auf der Suche nach einem gemütlichen Restaurant, was vielfältige Küche anbietet, bezahlbar ist und einen verweilen lässt. Die Männer wollten was handfestes zum Abend, es viel Schnitzel als Wunsch. Die Frauen wollten Fisch und viel Gemuse. Was veganes wäre der Hammer. So standen wir vor dem Schumann's, Auswahl und Preise korrekt...wir gingen hinein. Tolles Ambiente, ein junger Kellner, der sich von Anfang an bestens auf uns einstellte und uns jeden Wunsch von den Augen ablies. Die Getränke waren perfekt gemacht, der Wein schmeckte hervorragend. Unser Essen war jedoch die Krönung...das Schnitzel war wunderbar, die hausgemachten Steak Fries super lecker, die Pasta frisch, das vegane Gericht geschmacklich wirklich eine Überraschung...alles hat gepasst und war perfekt zubereitet. Die Portionen angemessen, Preis Leistung ideal. Der Espresso zum Abschluss ebenfalls sehr gute Qualität. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend und müssen jedem Besucher dieses Restaurant ans Herz legen. Die Zitate an den Wänden von Goethe, Kant und anderen runden alles ab. im Sommer kann man wunderschön draußen auf der Terrasse sitzen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und es war perfekt.
