Plaka Restaurant — Restaurant in Bremen

We were looking for a good Greek restaurant in Bremen that serves soup and Plaka was the right choice. We were fortunate to get there before 18 o'clock and get a table without having a reservation. After that hour there was always a line of people waiting for a table. They all didn't seem to mind the wait, a clear sign that they knew it was worth it. We were impressed by that. We found the restaurant unexpectedly small for Bremen, but later reading about it I understood that is bigger than what we saw. You have to climb some narrow stairs just after you enter, in order to get to a room where the bar and tables are. But the atmosphere inside is so warm that you will for sure find your cosy space to eat. The food was absolutly delicious. We had three of the five types of soupes they served and they were all delicious and they came with a side of cabbage salad. We reccomend the onion soup. It was a revelation. We enjoyed the complimentary Ouzo even though we are not drinkers. It was served extremely cold and trying it really completed the Greek restaurant experience. The Souvlaki and the Tzatziki are a must at Plaka. They are delicious and the portions are big. So don't be shy to ask to take the leftovers home and also enjoy it later. We were sad to be so full and not be able to enjoy their desserts. But we are planning to return ... the Plaka experience is that good!

Fun Fact: our daughter ordered a dish she saw pictured here in a review from 6 years ago and she was served exactly that. It looked exactly the same and the taste was what she had imagined. 5 stars for...

Wir hatten einen Tisch bestellt und für den Abend ein Zeitfenster von 90 Minuten vorgegeben bekommen. Ich mag so etwas grundsätzlich nicht. Nach Eintreffen mußten wir relativ lange warten bis wir nach Getränken gefragt wurden. In meinem Stammlokal in Bremen Blockdiek auch bei hohem Besucheraufkommen kein Problem. Das Ambiente ist grundsätzlich angenehm aber die Sitzgruppen sind immer noch durch Corona Wände voneinander getrennt, Februar 23. Das trägt zum Wohlfühlen nicht bei. Die Portionen waren so minimal bemessen daß uns unwillkürlich der Gedanke an einen Kinderteller kam. Meine Frau und ich hatten Calamaris mit Giros und Pommes frites. Calamaris waren gut. Das Giros trocken und kaum gewürzt und dermaßen kleingeschnitten daß man es kaum auf die Gabel bekam. Tsatsiki mußte man mit der Lupe suchen. Pommes fehlte Salz. Von einem " Warmen" Essen konnte man auch nicht gerade reden. Giros und Pommes zu sehr abgekühlt. Nein, ich bin wirklich nicht verwöhnt aber hatte mehr Qualität und etwas mehr Quantität erwartet. Wenn man aus einem Restaurant kommt und noch Appetit auf eine Bratwurst hat stimmt etwas nicht. Zudem hat sich das Personal immerwährend mit Stammgästen unterhalten statt auf andere Gäste und ihre Wünsche zu achten. Alles in allem war ich wirklich sehr enttäuscht. Wir waren zu zweit, mit Reservierung an einem Freitag Abend vor Ort und es war wie immer sehr lecker und der Service von Anfang bis Ende top.

Meine Freundin hatte überbackenes Fleisch in einer Auflaufform und ich das Bifteki mit Reis Tzatziki und Krautsalat.

Kleines Manko der Einrichtung: die Tür auf dem Damenklo ließ sich nicht verschließen dies merkte ich erst als ich schon drin war. Vielleicht ja die vordere zweite Tür aber dies war mir nicht bewusst.

Die Tische sind (sicher noch durch Corona) durch höhere Trennwände abgeteilt. Anfangs kam es mir nicht harmonisch vor, aber dann hatten wir es ganz vergessen. Wer das Restaurant noch ohne Trennwände kennt wird die besser Lautstärke und Nähe zum Platznachbarn ganz gut finden.

Nun das Beste: Das Essen war der Hammer. Sooo lecker. Klar kann man warscheinlich Beim Bifteki nicht viel falsch machen aber sind nicht gerade die simplen Gerichte die durch und durch gut sein sollten. Super!

Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hat uns rechtzeitig auf den Weg zu unser Stadtführung geschickt und einen Freizeittipp für den späteren Abend mit gegeben.
