Himalaya — Restaurant in Bremerhaven

As person with an Indian background , I was with high spirits when I initially planned to visit this restaurant during the New Year's Eve. I'm always very respectfull and not keen in giving bad reviews on any food business which I know it's a livelihood for someone who have put so much effort to open up a place and run the restaurant despite all the challenges we are facing at the current time. With so much excitement I was there after booking a table for our family of 5. Unfortunately, here I'm not going to rate the food because we could not order any food. Oddly, we waited for first 20 minutes without any Menu card and after asking for one later still no one gave us a menu card. There were about 4 other tables already dining and there were 2 other couples who came after us got their menu card and placed their order straight away.. So, after an half hour of wait and my 20 months old getting frustrated we decided to leave. So, the good news is that the waiters saw us putting on our Jackets and about to exit to the door and they decided to bring the Menu card. Wir wollten vor der Fahrt nach Hause noch was essen. Da wir gerne indisch essen, haben wir die Himalaya Indian Cuisine ausprobiert. Es war das erste und das letzte Mal, auch wenn ich ab und an mal in BRV sein werde.

Die Currysuppe war nicht wirklich gut im Geschmack, die einliegenden Zwiebeln waren roh, der Geschmack eine Gemüsebrühe mit etwas Curry. Mit dem dazubestellten Knoblauchnaan ging es, das war geschmacklich gut, allerdings kann man da auch nicht viel falsch machen. Als Hauptgericht hatte ich die Tandoorivariationen mit Beef, Lamm und Huhn, dazu gab es einen Salat, Basmatireis und Tandoorisauce.

Fangen wir mal beim Salat an. Der passte für mich gar nicht. Ein einfacher gemischter Salat mit einem Joghurtdressing. Der Salat wird scheinbar in Wasser aufbewahrt, da die Zwiebeln gar keinen Geschmack mehr hatten und wässrig waren, auch der Eisbergsalat war so und die Tomaten. Sehr schade und für mich auch nicht passend zum Gericht. Da wären mitgegarte Gemüse wie Brokkoli, Zucchini oder ähnliches besser.

Das Fleisch, naja, die Hackfleischrollen erinnerten ein wenig an Cevapcici, geschmacklich waren sie eher neutral, das Lamm war recht hart und zäh, und das Hühnchen hatte trotz deutlicher Marinade kaum eigenen Geschmack.

Da denkt man dann vielleicht, dass man das mit einer kräftigen indischen Sauce essen kann. Leider nein. Die Tandoorisauce schmeckt nach Bratensauce. Kein kräftiger Geschmack nach Gewürzen wie ich es von solchen Essen gewohnt bin. Zudem hatte ich das Essen schärfer bestellt, was normalerweise in indischen Restaurants gar kein Problem ist, das wurde aber trotz mehrfachen erwähnens wohl schon vom Kellner ignoriert.

Insgesamt mit nicht ganz 30€ pro Person mit einem Lassi doch etwas teuer, auch für die Portionsgrößen und die Qualität.

Wir haben das auch kommuniziert, also, dass es nicht so toll war. Als „Entschuldigung“ gab es für jeden einen Espresso aufs Haus. Sehr nett, macht aber leider das nicht so gute...

Food was OK, Service was awful. Had to wait for our food for one hour 15 minutes. After waiting for that long our naan wasn't there and asked the waiter if the naan is coming? He nodded and meant to say yes, waited while eating gravy but the naan didn't seem to appear. Then wanted to ask the service if it was coming but no one seemed available, after about 20 minutes of another wait asked the lady if the naan would come or we need to just eat the gravy ? She brought one naan only. Have been often there but this was a dreadful...
