In summary: Outstanding Ramen, central location, polite staff. 🍽️ Menu: The standard Ramen is based on chicken broth. The salt level is decided by either salt (Shio), Soy sauce (Shoyu) or fermented bean paste (Miso). Besides, vegetable based Ramen and Tantanmen (containing sesame paste) are available. 😮 Outstanding: The chicken broth had a very thick and rich texture. This is a sign for a high quality broth. 👌 Side menu: excellent tempura and gyoza. Have some mochi ice for dessert. 🙂 🥤 Drinks: Basic selection. Green and oolong tea available. No Japanese and no alcoholic beverages. 💁 Staff: Japanese staff, which was attentive and quick. We were very happy with the service. 💲 Price: compared to any other Ramen place, this one is on a more expensive side. Adding a boiled egg brings you above 16 Euro. Still worth it. especially considering the central location. 🪑 Interior: simple and basic. As a typical ramen place should be. In Japan ramen is fast food. 😌 ➡️ Verdict: I will visit this...
Read moreSHORT VERSION: Authentic, quick and okay tasty, albeit not the most flavorful. ONLY CHICKEN for protein, no pork or tofu which is disappointing.
LONG VERSION: I’m in Köln all the time for work & stumbled into this place. Last week I got the miso based Tonkotsu ramen (creamy ramen w/collogen) with the karaage (Japanese fried chicken chunks). Karaage was good although only served with/kewpie mayo. Tonkotsu ramen was pretty good (3.5-4 stars). This week I got the sea salt base Tonkotsu ramen and it’s pretty bland tbh, even after adding chili oil and a few shakes of shichimi togarashi I’m kinda disappointed.
It’s good if you’re craving ramen and the staff is friendly and attentive plus reasonably priced. I noticed this week there’s a Japanese BBQ place on the opposite corner which I may need to sample next biz trip. Happy...
Read moreHad the chicken ramen with soy sauce. Amazing ramen, very authentic and deep broth bursting with flavour. You can tell it's been stewed very long to achieve the flavour.
The texture of the noodle is great, not too doughy though the portion could be a bit small. The eggs were made well, still semi liquid and the other toppings like chicken slices and balls were great.
So why 4 stars? Because they only provide cheap disposable chopsticks. Imagine trying to enjoy this amazing ramen with some flimsy chopsticks that are coarse and dig Into your fingers. It's like trying to eat a fancy Italian or French meal with...
