Obwohl ich hier nicht mehr wohne, komme ich immer wieder gerne hier her. Einst war dieses Veedel ein schmuckloses Arbeiterquartier. Ab den 90ern entstand ein neues Viertel auf dem ehemaligen Güterbahnhof. Die Archtektur ist durch und durch modern, sie entfaltet aber erst im Wechselspiel aus Licht, Schatten und den Menschen die sie beleben, ihren eigenen Charme. Der Mediapark war früher, Heimstätte des Musikfernsehens (Viva, Viva2) schlechthin und auch 1Live hatte hier mal früher seinen Sitz. Heute sind IT-Firmen ansässig, aber auch die Freseniushochschule und die Fotoschule, die mit ihren Studenten den Mediapark erst so richtig beleben. Das Kino Cinedom lockte zwar auch schon früher Menschen in den Park, doch leider führte dies nicht zu der Atmosphäre wie sie heute ist, obwohl es an sich echt Sehenswert ist. Die Gastronomie ist abwechslungsreich, im Parkgelände selbst, als auch gegenüber in der Maybachstraße gibt es für jeden Geschmack etwas. Sushi, Rodizio, Burger, Döner, Vapiano sogar eine Shisha Bar gibt es und noch andere Restaurants und Cafes, es lohnt sich wirklich her zu kommen. Kulturell wird einem ebenfalls etwas geboten, die Stiftung SK Kultur betreibt das Fotographiemuseum und das deutsche Tanzarchiv. Der Mediapark bietet einem fast alles was das Herz begeht(außer bezahlbaren Wohnraum:) weswegen ich dann wegziehen musste... Dennoch bietet der Mediapark mehr als Archtektur. Der Park, die Wiesen und die Spielplätze bilden einen grünen Kontrastpunkt zur Architektur. Verbunden wird dieses gegensätzliche Ensemble, von dem künstlich angelegten See. Er lädt zum Verweilen als zum Spazieren ein. Und falls man doch mehr Ruhe und Grün sucht, ist man schnell im Stadtgarten. Also...
