I came to Frango Portugues with my family. We chose this place because of its good location, the great environment and the friendliness of the people that works there. The food was a disappointment - which beats the whole purpose of a restaurant, no matter how nice the place is. My father in law ordered the Dorade fish and he couldn't eat it. It was overcooked, too dry and "hard as leather" (using his own words). The other dishes we ordered consisted of fish and shrimp, everything looked good but the food was a bit overcooked. We talk to our waiter to complained about the Dorade dish only, we got only some kind of mild apology from him, he offered to get something else for my father in law, but honestly, he didn't feel like eating anymore. After that, nothing else happened. So I decided to go and ask to talk to the manager. The manager was very courteous, he even called another person who seem to be the assistant manager. So I explained to them that we were having a bad experience, and that it was my father in law's birthday and perhaps they could think of something to "correct" the kitchen's mistake. They listened carefully and offered that they will do something. I went back to our table, the Assistant Manager (not the manager) came to apologize and offered something else to eat to my father in law. I was actually expecting them to offer him a no charge new Dorade dish, or something to compensate for the disappointment; but they didn't do anything else. At the end my father in law and I accepted a couple of shots of Medronho and decided to pay. We were not charged for the Dorade, neither for the shots; but honestly it felt that they came short in their apology. My suggestion is that they need to focus much more in the quality of their cooking. We have now a bad memory of this place and perhaps we won't go back there. Too bad, because the place looks very nice, we truly hope that someone at some point would write a nice review informing us that the kitchen...
Read moreI have been a regular at Frango Português, and the grilled seafood and seafood porridge are always delicious. Most of the staff are attentive and polite. This time, however, was a huge disappointment: a brown-skinned waiter with glasses repeatedly questioned our order in a condescending tone, asking three times if we were “only ordering this.” We had ordered a large two-person seafood porridge, more than enough for two people — in fact, we even packed two boxes to take home — yet he still kept pressing us, which was extremely unpleasant. At checkout, because I decided not to leave a tip for his poor service, he questioned me again and even rolled his eyes at me as he turned away, then denied it when confronted. Such behavior is highly disrespectful and ruined the entire dining experience. The food remains good, but rude service like this is unacceptable. I will no longer recommend this restaurant within Düsseldorf’s...
Read moreIf you are super hungry and have no hurry this is a good place for you, the dishes are big and it takes a while to receive your dish. The bread is not included so if they put it on your table without asking be aware that is not a gift I think is like 5.50 euros. Besides the food is super tasty I wont recommend this restaurant for an especial occasion. We were a table of 10 persons celebrating a b-day party and they took more than an hour to notice that the food order didn't get into the kitchen order and besides they were so nice giving us the desserts for free that were delicious, the feeling of not neither come to check if we need something to drink or notifying the problem in my opinion was not a good reaction. But indeed they tried to solve the bad feeling with some...
