Cave Tapas — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

This place belongs and it’s owned by the same guys as the Frango portugues arround the corner.

Staff and service really good and this place has a really nice atmosphere / decoration. Loved the fact that walls were decorated with a lot of character and love, something that is very typical for a Portuguese house.

I always find it rather confusing to call Tapas in a Portuguese restaurant mostly because Portuguese don’t have tapas, they have “petiscos” some sort of snacks that are for certainty much richer and tasteful than the Spanish version of tapas. This seems to be a standard word everywhere in Germany so guess it will end like the discussion of pasta and Nudeln in german.

Food was amazing, had some Portuguese ribs / entrecosto from the grill with a side of self cut fries and salad. The snacks / tapas were very tasteful and something to eat with some olives and bread on the side.

Really cool that this restaurant also offers some Portuguese groceries like wines, cheese and many other things.

Da wir gerne ins Clube Portugues gehen, wollten wir dem "Schwestern-Lokal" hier auch mal eine Chance geben... Leider hat der junge Kellner nicht wirklich dazu beigetragen, dass wir hier einen schönen Abend hatten. Von Anfang an hatten wir das Gefühl, dass wir ihn stören würden (kamen an einem Samstagabend gegen 21 Uhr). Getränke bzw. Flaschen wurden mit der Gabel geöffnet, es setzte sich fort mit der Gerichts-Auswahl bei der es dann eigentlich nur ums Verkaufen ging:

1.) Anstatt Garnelen von der Tapas Karte sollten wir lieber das teurere Tellergericht nehmen, da dieses besser schmecken würde (es werden hier wohl kaum andere Garnelen verwendet?!) 2.) Vom gewünschten BIFE Á PORTUGUESA wurde abgeraten, da es laut Kellner nach "Schuhsole" schmeckt (warum steht so ein Gericht dann auf der Karte?!) 3.) Auch vom Iberischen Schwein wurde abgeraten "Kalb ist in der Regel ja immer besser als Schwein" (Geschmackssache?!)

Fanden wir relativ unverständlich, wir hatten sehr stark den Eindruck, dass man uns nichts empfehlen möchte sondern auf sehr schlechte Art etwas verkaufen wollte, was a.) teurer ist und b.) schnell raus musste. Das Essen war dann in Ordnung, aber im Verhältnis von 25€/ Teller auch nicht überragend.

Dann sollten wir schnell zahlen, da letzte Runde ist. Parallel kam aber eine größere, wohl bekannte, Gesellschaft, die aber gerne gesehen und bedient wurde.

Wir werden dann in Zukunft, wenn überhaupt, wieder ins Clube Portugues...

I am so disappointed that there are still people treating other people the way I saw the Manager of this place is treating their own staff!! . Yelling, humiliating it was just on the other level. Honestly I couldn’t watch that and I just stood up and left. Never coming back there as I got very upset and stressed and felt bad I didn’t say anything. This is against any humans rights. Come on, we are in UAE for God sake. Hope this complain will be raised to...
