O•SUSHI by Manthei — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

Slightly better than super market sushi for a high price, and the delivery time was over an hour late, I'd recommend literally anywhere else.

Edit to clarify some points, apologies for not including originally. Wall of text to explain further why we rated this restaurant low:

After ordering, we waited by the door for the food 3 minutes before the food tracker said it would arrive (we were starving). The delivery man never approached the door while I waited for 15-20 minutes, and my partner (waiting in the flat) never heard the doorbell ring. We got a call after 20 minutes saying the drivers couldn't get in the building and so left, claiming they couldn't get through via the phone (this could be true, but the restaurant calling us to explain this suggests otherwise). The restaurant mentioned the driver turned around and was on their way back. This turned into us waiting longer so we called back to explain the driver hadn't arrived. I was put on hold while I could hear the restaurant taking new orders and was told after 5 minutes or so of waiting that the driver is still on their way with the food and they would call us. The driver eventually showed up and the food arrived tasting like it had been out for as the total waiting time which was well over an hour. This could all just be a huge misunderstanding sure, but after looking around at other reviews from other websites, we found that all the high rates reviews were 5 star across the board and anonymous, and all the named reviews were rating the restaurant lower, describing the same reasons as we encountered - waiting over an hour for low...

Vor 8 Jahren hatte ich hier 5 Sterne bewertet, Manthei war mein liebster Sushi Laden.

Gestern waren wir zum 40. Hochzeitstag meiner Eltern dort. Mein Vater ruft an "Seid ihr Manthei?" - "Ja sind wir!". Vor Ort dann "ehm ja wir sind von okinii aufgekautt worden, das ist jetzt alles Okinii". DAS IST VERBRAUCHERTÄUSCHUNG, WENN IHR MIT FALSCHEM NAMEN WERBUNG MACHT UND GÄSTE LOCKT!

Zur Qualität: Manthei war eine der besten Sushibars in Düsseldorf, Geheimtipp, nicht zu teuer, in Bilk, 1A Service und Qualität, super frisch.

Jetzt ist es Okini Systemgastronomie, mit allem was dazu gehört:

Keine Wasabi-Nüsse mehr am Anfang, kein Aquarium mehr, Sparbeleuchtung, billige Papierservietten, Plastikstäbchen "in edler Optik". Der Laden wurde ausgeschlachtet und alles, was irgendwie Kosten verursacht, wurde rausgeworfen.

Wir hatten einen Tisch um 7 Uhr reserviert, es waren 2 andere Tische besetzt (7 Gäste in total) - wir haben um kurz vor 8 die Getränke und die Vorspeisen gehabt. Einfach 50 Minuten bis zum Drink, damit man mal anstoßen kann.

Die Kellnerin hatte keine Service Ausbildung: Es wurde nicht serviert, die Gerichte wurden angereicht, "Hier nimm das mal ab bitte", sie hat nicht zwischen den Gängen abgeräumt. Wir fragen z.B. nach so kleinen Tellern, damit wir beim Sushi was vor uns ablegen können - Sie bringt 3 Teller für 4 Leute... Wir saßen 20, 30 Minuten zwischen unserem alten Geschirr, generell hat jede Bestellung SO lange gedauert, obwohl wir insgesamt 11 Gäste an 3 Tischen waren. Wie gesagt, 2 Sterne, weil Sie nett war.

Zum Sushi: Systemgastronomie. Wieder auf der Karte 2, 3 Gerichte "by Manthei" definiert, aber es ist nicht Manthei, da wird wieder auf dem alten Namen geritten.

Seetang außen an den Makis: Durchgeweicht und gummiartig (die Rollen wurden lange in der Vergangenheit als Masse vorbereitet und lagen dann da rum)

Die Nigiris: Sushi-Reis: Trocken, viel zu hart und verdichtet, einfach ein dicker Block gepresster Reis. Dafür dann der Fisch auf dem Nigiri hauchdünn, 2mm, braun anstatt rot (Thunfisch) und am Rand schon leicht angetrocknet. YUM. Wieder, Massenware, Preiseinsparung, ich glaub selbst am Reisessig haben sie gespart.

Und dann halt diese billigen Okinii Tricksereien eben, bei den Inside Out Rolls ist nur an einer von 4 seite dieser kleine, orangene Rogen, früher wurden Sie einmal darin gerollt.

Der Fisch ist nicht gut. Es gibt Lachs und Thunfisch bei einer kleinen Auswahl an Rollen, der Rest ist alles so western style, "Frittierte Garnele Inside Out", "Crunchy Tuna Flame Roasted", was weiß ich. Aber keine anderen Fischsorten mehr, bei Manthei gabs keine Ahnung, 10, 15 verschiedene Nigiris mit 5, 6 Fischsorten. jetzt darfst du wählen zwischen Thunfisch und Lachs.

Alles irgendwelche Special Western Sushi Verballhornungen mit viel Avocado und viel Mayo, eigentlich schmeckt man gar nichts von den Rollen und sie sind basically auch relativ identisch im Mund.

Das Gesamtpaket aus "Der Laden wurde komplett entkernt, alles, was Wohlfühlfaktor war, ist weg" und "aus Edelsushi wurde billigste Systemgastronomie" in Verbindung mit "Wir betreiben Verbrauchertäuschung und sagen am Telefon einfach einen anderen Namen, den des alten Eigentümers, der hatte ja einen guten Ruf und jeder weiß, wie schlecht Okinii ist" - 1 Stern, und damit ist der Prügel auch gut bezahlt.

ABSOLUTE WARNUNG - GEHT...

Had sushi delivered for a total cost of 75€ — pretty pricey for what you get. Or don’t get.

The reason for the low rating: only got one set of chopsticks even though we ordered vegetarian platter for 2 (and more) on top we got around a total of 10 pieces of ginger in the boxes for more than 30 pieces of sushi it is clear if you order a platter for two people, including a double portion of yakatori, a second box with a further 16 sushi and a box of edamame beans that more than 2 people are eating. Infact 4 of us were eating. We got 2-3 pieces of ginger each.

The lack of care on the chopsticks and ginger feels like a cost cutting exercise. When sushi is priced so high, I expect the service to match. This unfortunately was not the case and therefore would never order from here again. This is sad because the food was tasty, but eating ginger-less sushi with a fork was a real let down on the...
