The restaurant really needs to get the management part of the business right. Although I had a reservation, I had to wait for 20 mins before I could get a table. And nobody comes to actually greet you and usher u to the table. U actually have to go all the way to the bartender to let them know you are there. The waiters just see you and ignore you so you have to be proactive to get their attention. Then, it took them 10 mins to give the menu card another 30 mins to serve the drinks and another 20 mins to bring the food to the table. Then after the meal, I had to wait 20 mins to get a check and another 15 mins for the waiter to come and take the payment and in both the cases I had to get up from my chair to ask them for it. I was there for 2.5 hours and only 45 mins was actually eating and rest was waiting for one thing or the other. The place is severely understaffed. How can one expect 2 people to take orders, bring the food, clean the table, and make drinks for 12-15 tables. I get it you have been a small family run business but it’s been over 11 years since you are in the business you guys should start to figure out the management side of...

The staff is incredibly adorable, friendly, and fun.
The food is rich in flavor, and the injera you order when you run out of your first portion is free! The presentation of the food is nice as well, the ambiente is super comfy, and i am running out of praise. because it's so good that there is not much to say, really. it's an experience to be had!
my girlfriend and i moved away to berlin, just came home from eating at another Ethiopian restaurant, and we miss Abessina sorely. we're thinking about going back just for one date night there. damn.
if you're in Göttingen, or Kassel, or anywhere nearby: mcfriggin eat there, i swear to god. it's not the cheapest, but for the quality of the food, the service, and the mood in there, it's worth it twice over.
the only thing i regret leaving behind...
Read moreLoved the place! Went for a dinner with the family. Three of us shared a mixed platter with beef, chicken, lentils, sautéed spinach and potatoes/carrot/green beans mix with a side dish of couscous and rice. Everything was very delicious! I also highly recommend trying beer from Ghana, we had mango, passion fruit and pineapple versions. Service was very hospitable and friendly, it seemed like every customer received sincere personal attention. Make sure to make a reservation if you go for dinner on the weekend, and note a painting of the owner’s family on the back wall of the dining room. I would...
