Öz Urfa Kebap Haus — Restaurant in Hamburg

I have to say it wasn’t the best food ever .

Even the bread served was bland, I had never tasted bread that was unsalted. The free dips were ok but also not very tasty ( Ezme/ tzatziki).

I had the eggplant skewer with meat which was , you guessed it, unsalted ! Very bland. And the eggplant skin was charcoal black and not edible. Rest of the plate was ok. My friend said his chicken döner was unfortunately very fatty and raw.

All in all, I can’t say I was satisfied. Service was quick but I was facing the kitchen and also saw a few things I didn’t like : the Cooks EATING food behind their counter ( in front of customers) which obviously made me think they are putting their fingers in their mouth and then making my food. Then I saw the guy at the oven, touching his cell phone and then touching the Bread dough again without having cleaned his hands, which was very offputting and disgusting and made me regret eating Any bread in that place.

Food was fine. Could use improvement in taste such as more salads, more sauces (what kebab house does not have garlic sauce?!) and less oil?! The kebab was dripping with oil. Prices were reasonable however service lacked in many aspects. The waiter we had commuted two mistakes. The first was bringing the wrong drink which he changed quickly however they also brought us a wrap when we asked for a doner. When confronted he made a big hissy fit but eventually changed it. Finally when it came to pay the bill which was 36.50 the waiter decided to put €40 claimed the 3.50 was for a tip. Sorry but considering all the above he did not deserve it. When declining to pay the tip he then asked another member of our table to pay the tip which is extremely bizarre to us. Nonetheless the food could use improvement and so could the service. A contact of mine from Hamburg recommended we visit this establishment, so we decided to come here during a weekend getaway outside Germany. Upon entering, we were served immediately and had a table available right away. The staff were very friendly and eager to help.

We ordered the chicken kebab with salad and requested no sauce or yoghurt, as we are both lactose intolerant. They were happy to accommodate our request. The food arrived quickly, within less than 10 minutes, and the portions of meat were generous. We also had tea and asked the staff for honey, which they kindly provided.

For two people, we paid roughly €36. The toilets were available and clean. I highly recommend this...
