I left this restaurant extremely disappointed with how they handled both the menu and the billing process. What could have been a pleasant evening turned into a stressful and frustrating experience.
First of all, the restaurant has removed prices from its physical menu, something that was not the case when they first opened. That alone raises red flags.
After finishing our meal, I went to pay. The cashier asked for my table number and payment method. I chose card, paid, and was only given the POS machine slip showing the card transaction. No itemized bill, no breakdown of what I was actually charged for. Stepping outside, my wife and I immediately noticed the total seemed much higher than expected.
We went back in to ask for the actual receipt, and what followed was pure chaos. The staff whispered among themselves, created a sense of urgency, and finally handed me a receipt. To my shock, we had been charged for items we never ordered, including an extra bread that should have already been part of our order. They refunded some cash but showed zero accountability, no apology, and basically just tried to brush it off.
Even worse, they took the receipt back after partially refunding us, then gave us a bit more cash when we insisted further. It was hectic, disorganized, and frankly felt dishonest. Once we got home and compared our remembered order with their online menu prices, we realized we still had not been fully reimbursed. And of course, since they never let us keep the receipt, we had no proof beyond what we remembered.
This restaurant’s billing practices are completely untrustworthy. They clearly try to push cash payments, they avoid giving proper receipts, and when you catch them overcharging, they fumble around and still don’t make it right.
It is a real shame that they are getting away with such practices simply because there are not many other Yemeni cuisine options available in Hamburg. Between the lack of menu prices, refusal to provide itemized receipts, and blatant overcharging, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Until they change their unethical practices, I would warn others...
Read moreI recently visited the Yemeni restaurant in Hamburg with my sister and her family, and we had a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant had a lovely, traditional decor that created an authentic Middle Eastern vibe.
The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Yemeni dishes, making it hard to choose. We decided to share a few dishes so everyone could try a bit of everything. The Mandi was a big hit, with its tender, flavorful meat and aromatic rice. The Fahsa, a rich and hearty stew, was perfect with the fresh, warm Yemeni bread. We also tried the Saltah, which had a delightful mix of flavors.
The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. They were also great with the kids, which made the whole experience even better.
The prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. The entire family left with full bellies and big smiles.
If you’re looking for a place in Hamburg to enjoy authentic Yemeni cuisine with family or friends, I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. A truly wonderful...
Read moreAlways an amazing dining experience. This is pretty close by from the Savoy Kino. It has become a sort of ritual among me and our friends to eat out here be it lunches or dinner after a movie. They open 2pm onwards, and it does not matter if the movie was good or not since the amazing food here will definitely make your day. I would recommend the spicy options marked on the menu. The CT hot chicken cheese is for me their best burger. It comes with jalapenos, Tabasco sauce and a savoury spicy chicken patty. Of course like any classic burger joint you can choose your bread and you can choose if you want a drink and fries with the burger as well. They offer alcohol too but I would recommend their hot beverages - their maraani tea is pretty amazing. Also worth a mention is the hot dog on their menu - a good quick small bite if you aren't...
