Café Pérola — Restaurant in Hamburg

Café Pérola is a bit of a mixed bag for me.

The Good:

The croissants and sandwiches are genuinely delicious. The location is super convenient, especially if you're in the Sternschanze area. Their Americano is a solid choice for a coffee fix. The prices are reasonable for the area.

The Not-So-Good:

The staff consistently seem unhappy and never smile. It creates a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere. Basic manners are lacking. I've never heard a "please" or "thank you" from anyone working there, and they often seem annoyed when taking orders. They don't ask if you want your food warmed up, they just decide for you. The interior used to be cozier. Now it's just wooden benches and feels a bit stark.

Popped in for a coffe and something to eat. The young woman serving was somewhat unfriendly. Seemed like she would rather be somewhere else than serving customers in a cafe/bar. Should have just walked out again really. But the croissants looked good and the tortilla we had certainly was tasty. Seems like a continuous theme with staff here, looking at other reviews. Not somewhere I am likely to revisit. Kicked myself that I landed here what with all the local competition. But the couple of places I would have gone to...

Das Pérola in Hamburg ist nicht nur ein Café, sondern ein kleines Stück Portugal mitten in der Stadt. Seitdem die neuen Besitzer übernommen haben, hat sich das Ambiente noch einmal enorm verbessert – mit viel Herzblut, Gastfreundschaft und echter portugiesischer Leidenschaft.

Die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke ist absolut erstklassig, alles wird mit Liebe und Sorgfalt zubereitet. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die hausgemachten Spezialitäten, die nicht nur authentisch schmecken, sondern auch optisch ein Highlight sind.

Die neuen Besitzer sind einfach der Hammer – unglaublich freundlich, herzlich und mit einer Leidenschaft für guten Service, die man selten findet. Man fühlt sich hier nicht nur wie ein Gast, sondern fast wie ein Teil der Familie. Egal ob Stammkunde oder zum ersten Mal da – hier wird jeder mit einem Lächeln empfangen und exzellent umsorgt.

Das Pérola ist die perfekte Adresse für alle, die portugiesische Gastfreundschaft, exzellente Backwaren und fantastischen Kaffee genießen wollen. Ein echtes Must-Visit in Hamburg – ich komme definitiv wieder!...
