We've been to Hamburg for vacation and stayed at a hotel in Blankenese. Close by, there is this Peter Pane restaurant. As it was late and we had been traveling for 6 hours, we were quite hungry.
We went in and we were quickly seated. We received a menu and we looked at what was offered.
The menu is sorted in components and there is a very large variety of burgers available to choose from. This surprised me in a positive way, but mostly because I understood real quick how to put the menu together. At other places, I tend to have trouble doing this as often there is information missing and I have to ask. Here, if you read the intro on each page, it is easy to understand and get your order right.
After we had ordered, it took a while until the food arrived, though the restaurant didn't seem too busy. This frustrated (hungry) me a bit; however, it is worth noting that Peter Pane is also delivering ... so it is hard to tell whether it actually was or wasn't busy.
After some time, the food arrived. It looked very delicious, and you could see that the kitchen had paid attention to make it very appealing to the eye. At first, we thought we might go out hungry, but to our surprise, we felt quite satisfied and full at the end of our meal.
The staff was - generelly speaking - friendly, but a bit too shy. We had to "catch" the waiter to ask for more beverages (ours were empty), and at the end, though it wasn't too busy in the restaurant and food and drink had been completely consumed (there were 3 waiters and maybe 8 tables taken), we had to "catch" the waiter's attention to get the bill (even though our table was right at the spot where they walked in and out of the kitchen a lot of times).
All interactions were positive; however, we found that a bit more proactive customer service would have been great under the given circumstances. But all waiters seemed very young and new, so we are confident that things will get better over time.
All taken together, we were satisfied and want to go there again, should we be in the area again. Do we recommend...
Read moreWe just left this place after being totally ignored for 25 minutes. We realized that the service has been really poor in the past too, but always in the evenings after about 18:30. My tip is to come here before 17:00 when it’s generally quieter and there is a chance of getting served. The prices are better too. I like the food here but Peter really needs to employ more staff!! Update 25.09.23: What a different experience today! We dined here for my daughters birthday and the service was perfect. All the staff were very friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good (the new macaroni cheese burger!) and we all felt that it was fitting as a special birthday treat. We had the most contact with Laura (thank you!), but everyone was so nice. We...
Read moreFood very low quality! The atmosphere felt like i was in a big macdonald. The staff didn't even notice we were there, they forgot to even bring us anything like forks and knives or napkins so we had to look for them ourselves. It felt very capitalized and that they just brought us our burgers so we have to pay them and leave. And the prices are WAY over priced. Most expensive burgers we've had in Hamburg so far for really not big portions. Fries were bad and burger not really good unless you like MacDonalds food. So yeah for a MacDonalds experience to pay 55 euros for two people way too expensive. You should go to darfs burger in carolinastrasse!! One of the best burger experiences...
