Dining at Seehaus Restaurant for New Yearâs Eve was a unique experience, though not without its flaws. With its reputation and stunning location, I had high expectations. While the food and ambiance were exceptional, the overall experience fell short of the standards one would expect at this level.
The food was the highlight of the eveningâeach of the four courses was delicious. Paired with the spectacular view of the New Yearâs fireworks, it created a memorable setting.
However, the service and organization were disappointing. The restaurant seemed overbooked, with guests seated at shared tables to maximize capacity, which detracted from the exclusive feel. To make matters worse, we were seated on a broken chair, which we brought to the staffâs attention three times, yet it was never replacedâa surprising oversight.
Some of the waitstaff were kind and clearly doing their best under pressure, but the service overall felt chaotic and rushed. There were long delaysânearly an hour between coursesâand drinks often had to be reordered before they arrived. Unfortunately, the manager on duty was not service-minded and added to the disorganization rather than resolving it.
The evening ended on a disappointing note when, just after receiving dessert, we were rushed to settle the bill. Being hurried while still enjoying the final course was inappropriate, especially at this price point.
Shared restroom facilities were another issue. While unisex restrooms are not inherently problematic, their misuse by other patrons on the night created an uncomfortable experience.
In conclusion, Seehaus offers excellent food and a stunning view but lacks the service and management to justify its reputation and pricing. For nearly âŹ1000, I expected a seamless experience with attention to detail at every level. This was my first visit, and I am left wondering if the experience might be more refined on a regular evening.
Would I return? Perhaps, but only if the service to match the quality of the cuisine.

After a grueling train trek from Frankfurtâhours of scenery blurring by and legs screaming for mercyâwe stumbled into Hamburg craving a spot to just... exhale. Enter Seehaus: our serendipitous salve, a lakeside haven that hit every note of weary-traveler perfection without us even trying.
Swept to a table right by the shimmering AuĂenalster waters, we sank into wicker chairs as the sun dipped low, casting golden ripples that made the train-weary haze fade like mist. The staff? Absolute gemsâattentive without hovering, they sensed our fatigue and nailed the timing: crisp white wine poured just so, menus explained with warm, effortless charm. We dove into the freshest salad imaginableâvibrant greens piled high with tons of tiny, sweet shrimp, creamy avocado slices, and juicy mango chunks for that perfect tropical twist, light yet utterly satisfyingâand the fish? Flaky, grilled to golden-edged glory, simply the best we've had in ages, sourced so locally you could almost taste the harbor breeze.
Those spectacular viewsâyachts gliding past, swans preening on the waves, and the city skyline twinkling like it was putting on a private show. It wasn't just a meal; it was restoration, turning exhaustion into euphoria. If you're docking in Hamburg post-journey (or anytime), make this your first stop. Seehaus doesn't just feed youâit revives you. Danke...
Read moreI used to be a regular customer here, but after my recent experience, I will never return. I had reserved a table in advance, but when I arrived, the hostâwho I believe was of Turkish originâseated us without even asking for my name. We were placed directly under the sun, and when we politely asked to move to a nearby table that was in the shade (and also for two people), we were met with an unbelievably rude and arrogant attitude.
Instead of simply explaining or listening, this person spoke to us as if we were beneath him, with zero professionalism or courtesy. It felt like we were being ordered around, not served. I then asked another waiter, who kindly explained it wasnât possible due to potential larger groupsâyet the table we asked for was clearly set for two, just like ours. None of it made any sense.
It was clear they do whatever they want, and customer service is the last thing on their minds. I felt disrespected and unwelcome. With this kind of attitude and treatment, Iâm not only done with this place, but Iâll be actively warning friends and family to stay away too. This staff member should not be in...
