Quintessence:

The food was nice, but it wasn't very authentic. There were not enough herbs inside of their summer rolls. Their rice vermicellis (Bun) were served on a plate instead of a bowl without Vietnamese pickles. They don't have authentic Vietnamese desserts. The restaurant has a clean and modern look.

In detail:

My friend and I went to Viet Quán on a Thursday evening around 20:30 ish. When we arrived there was only one other guest.

We ordered the spring rolls (Nem Ran) with chicken, the summer rolls (Goi Cuon) with prawns, and the wantan soup as entrees. In addition we ordered the rice vermicellis with grilled pork (Bun cha nuong) and fried beef (I think it was Bo xao xa ot)

The spring rolls were filled with chicken, carrots and Muer mushrooms. I don't remember if there were glass noodles inside too. The spring rolls were made with rice paper and coated in a tempura like dough. It's not typical to coat sping rolls in a tempura like dough, but they were still nice. The spring rolls were served with Nước Mắm Chấm (dipping fish sauce). Their dipping fish sauce was good. It wasn't watery, but it could have been more sour and they could have put in more garlic.

The summer rolls were filled with rice vermicellis, prawns (cut into halves), scrambled eggs, slices of cucumber, coriander, lettuce, and mint. They were also served with their dipping fish sauce. I would have preferred if they put in more Asian herbs like tía tô, giap cá, Thai basil, hẹ, though into their summer rolls and less lettuce.

The rice vermicellis were served with chopped coriander/mint, sliced cucumbers, bean sprouts and their dipping fish sauce. In addition the grilled pork was sprinkled with crashed peanuts. The pork was well seasoned, crispy, yet juicy. The chopped herbs were a bit dry though. I found it a bit difficult eating this dish, because it was served on a plate instead of a bowl. In addition I was kind of negatively surprised there were no Vietnamese pickles (carrots and daikon)...

Passt!

Mein erster Besuch hier.

Delicious, aromatic and full-bodied Pho - would recommend as being worth the trip from central Hamburg. Vietnamese Iced Coffee also deserves a good mention. Staff and service are friendly and accommodating, restaurant itself is clean and tidy. Location is next to a busy road, but you only hear a slight buzz from the road. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Authentic, fresh, top-notch quality Vietnamese restaurant. This place is comparable with some of the best restaurants in Vietnam. If you are Vietnamese, ask for Vietnamese menu. Highly recommend Bún dau mam tom, they made the best shrimp sauce I have eaten in many countries including Vietnam. Would definitely return this restaurant.
