We went for a nice dinner as a couple and tried six different dishes and one dessert. Everything we ate was fantastic. We had already decided to try their signature dishes, Pasta Krabbe and Scallop, before arriving, and they did not disappoint. For starters, we ordered two oysters each and asked for recommendations for the rest. We were suggested Sakana Gyoza and Sashimi Crudo—both were good, though not mind-blowing. We also picked Red Calmar ourselves from the menu without seeing any reviews or recommendations. I must say, it was one of the most unique dishes I’ve had in a long time. If I had to recommend just one dish, this would be it! For dessert, we were torn between Tarte Tatin and Burnt Cheesecake. Since everyone around us seemed to be ordering Tarte Tatin, we went with that. However, we were seated near the bar, and when they prepared a Burnt Cheesecake for another customer, the aroma lingered, making us wish we had tried that as well! When making a reservation, you can choose your seating area, and the bar seats are the first to sell out. Since we sat near the bar, we had the chance to observe it closely, and I would highly recommend sitting there for a more immersive experience. In contrast, the dining area had terrible artwork—so much so that it completely disrupted the otherwise serene interior. As an architect, my humble suggestion would be to maintain the funky character while also striking a balance in design. We had two glasses of white wine each, and since they forgot our scallop dish, they generously refilled our glasses at no extra cost. The total bill was €197, excluding tip.

Total disaster. A restaurant that poses as high-class but has none of that at all, except the unjustifiably high prices. Even from the reservation, the (pseudo) dining experience of this place is completely questionable. If you don't show up despite the reservation, you are credited 90 euros. The intention is to give an exclusive and serious image of the place, which this restaurant is not. We reserved a standard table for 2. Arriving we were told that the table had to be prepared. Once prepared, however, we were told that the table was still occupied and we had to wait 10 minutes at a high table before we could take our seat. In the same time, however, they seated another couple at an empty standard table. The couple came after us they were served first. We waited 30 minutes before we could sit at the reserved table. The miserable experience goes on: I tried to order a Sicilian white wine. We were brought a Spanish wine with completely different organoleptic properties from the desired wine, passing it off as a "similar" wine. A total lack of respect for the consumer (yours truly). We were treated as if we were totally unaware of what we were consuming. Rather than tell the truth, which was that they did not have the wine, they offered us a completely different one passing it off as similar. It is really a pity that serious gastronomy applications like Raisin recommend amateur places like these, lacking a sommelier and totally ignorant on the subject of natural wine. In addition, as my girlfriend was finishing her plate, one of the restaurant's many incompetent waiters wanted to take her plate away even though she had not finished eating. Overall, I think this restaurant has serious ethical problems from the standpoint of staff choice and competence compared to the quality it wants to offer and the restaurant it wants to be. The waiters are highly inexperienced; they seem to be new to the business. There is no such organization and seriousness of the staff that should be expected in a restaurant that offers dishes at such very high prices. The food is good but this in no way compensates for the disastrous experience I had, from reserving the table to paying the bill. I would not recommend the place even to my worst enemy. It was one of the very few times that I felt robbed when...

XO Seafood Bar Hamburg

Leider sehr enttäuscht! Warum? Der Service war sehr unaufmerksam. Die Gänge haben jeweils sehr lange gedauert. Wesentliche Dinge bei den Speisen haben gefehlt.

Reservierung online empfohlen.

Als Vorspeisen haben wir Skana Gyoza: Catch of the day, shrimps, pointed cabbage, garlic, chili; Classic 16 € und Sashimi Crudo: Catch of the day, red shiso, pink ginger elderflower capers, beetroot-wasabi 22 € bestellt.

Wartezeiten: sehr lange. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis: zu teuer.

In Summe: Leider sehr schade!
