My stay at the Prize by Radisson St. Pauli proved to be a significant letdown, especially considering the price point of over €200 per night. For such a rate, one anticipates a certain standard of comfort and service, which this hotel regrettably failed to meet.
One issue was the infrequent housekeeping. Room cleaning and bed making are only done after the third night, a policy more aligned with budget hostels or extended-stay apartments than a hotel commanding a premium nightly fee. This meant multiple days without basic tidying or fresh linens.
The room itself was remarkably sparse, feeling more like a private room in a hostel than a proper hotel accommodation. Crucial amenities were conspicuously absent: the bathroom had no hand soap, there was no cup or glass anywhere in the room (you had to ask reception for a cup), and the lack of a wardrobe or a safe for valuables created considerable inconvenience.
Breakfast, while offered, was equally basic. The small selection of items felt inadequate for the price paid.
In essence, the Prize by Radisson St. Pauli offers a bare-bones experience. For over €200 per night that I paid, the absence of standard hotel amenities and services, coupled with the minimal housekeeping and breakfast, presents a very poor value proposition. Travelers used to typical hotel comforts at this price range will likely find this establishment to be...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Prize By Radisson, Hamburg St. Pauli, and overall, it was a great experience with a few minor drawbacks.||||Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐||The hotel is perfectly located in St. Pauli, close to the Reeperbahn, the harbor, and plenty of restaurants. Public transport is easily accessible, making it a great base for exploring Hamburg.||||Rooms: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆||The room was modern, clean, and well-designed, though compact. The soundproofing was excellent, and the overall aesthetic was sleek and stylish. However, the mattress was much too soft for our liking, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. If you prefer a firmer bed, it might be worth checking with the hotel before booking.||||Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐||The staff were friendly and professional, making check-in and check-out seamless. They were also happy to offer recommendations for things to do in the area.||||Amenities: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆||Good Wi-Fi, a cozy lobby, and a solid breakfast option. While there’s no full restaurant, plenty of great dining options are nearby.||||Overall:||A well-located, stylish hotel with great service, but if you prefer a firmer mattress, you might want to request one in advance. Would consider staying again but would check bedding options first.||||👍 Recommended, with a...
Read moreEDIT: revising review back up to five stars because I found out this room has aircon. The original review stands, but the rating is now back at five stars.
Definitely a solid hotel with some modern fittings that I personally have never seen before, including built in wireless chargers and heated bathroom floors. Room is clean and looks nice, as does the whole hotel. Just a few gripes that take this from a five to a four: first, no available glass for tap water. I know this is because you only want me to buy drinks at the hotel bar, but I don’t drink alcohol if I can’t hydrate. I won’t even use the free drink chip if I can’t drink water from my own faucet. Next, no available tissues, which is fine, but I don’t go in holiday to do things I do at home (like blow my nose into toilet paper). Lastly, they did preemptively warn me that there would be little to no housekeeping during my stay due to staffing issues. Not a major concern as I am here only for three nights. Again, solid hotel that appears to be with or ahead of the times, just missing on a few minor but key points. Also, I forgot to mention staff friendliness but it should be mentioned that every available staff member seemed to provide good and...
