Ristorante La Famiglia — Restaurant in Hamburg

We were staying at a nearby hotel and came here for lunch. In June there are some tables outside, but we decided to sit indoors. Service was OK and food came quickly (I think we were first to come for lunch). We were unimpressed by the food. On a recent trip in Asia we had well-made Italian food multiple times , but what we got here was very bland and unexciting in comparison. Also in Italy can only remember having had much better food only. Spaghetti with octopus was that: boiled spaghetti, and some octopus. Spaghetti aglio e olio was that, some olive oil, but with barely any garlic or anything else giving flavor. A pork schnitzel was swimming in a bland uninviting looking sauce (but was judged by our quite critical teenager to have been "OK"). I am very surprised that the restaurant has been getting very good ratings. Maybe the real chef was ill and there was somebody substituting? I cannot think of an other explanation. I like the overall vibe of this little restaurant. The food on the other hand could use quite a bit of improvement. First of all, the complimentary bread, that was brought out without olive oil/vinegar or small bread plates, was awful. It was impossible to chew, tasted like stale bread from last week. The side salads for the dishes had a ton of raw onions. My minestrone soup was completely under seasoned, tasted really bland. And finally, my main salmon dish: tough, completely over cooked fish, a little sweet yet somehow bitter sauce, and 3 dry, old tasting and overcooked potato wedges on the side. Presentation leaves a lot to be desired as well. Of course I realize that I didn’t order pizza or pasta, which they could’ve cooked better. However, when you put a dish on the dinner menu priced north of 20€, you should really be prepared to actually make that dish well, or at least care to not over cook it and...

Good things are hard to find here. One of the worst italian food I ever experienced. One meal for 18,50€ and very low quality.

The atmosphere is quite nice with a small room and nice Ambiente. However, that's where the good things stop.

The Cola zero I received was still warm, so I had to order extra ice to cool it down. The pasta I ordered was small size and not at all in relation to the price. The taste was not bad but it was bland and didn't taste like much. I pasta was overcooked and watery. The pasta came within 4 minutes which suggests to me it wasn't really prepared with the sauce, the extra ingredients but it was premade and reheated. We did not receive complementary bread as other reviews suggested. We were not asked if everything is ok. The service was never at our table even though the restaurant...
