CODOS Hannover — Restaurant in Hanover

I was pretty excited to visit this cafe in Hannover (it looks like there are several ones) after I found it on Instagram. Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that really bugged me and I will not re-visit it. Here’s why … The service is non-existent if I have to grab my whole order and bring it to my own table – but the card reader asks how much tip I want to give when paying … Used dishes / cups were not cleaned from other tables during my whole visit in the cafe. I had a small cappuccino (which was good), water and a piece of banana bread and paid about 8€. The banana bread was the worst I ever had and it costs 4,20€. It was super dry and tingly in the mouth (I guess from huge amounts of baking powder in the recipe). If I had baked that myself, I would not give it to my guests, nor eat it myself. I would just toss it. The interior seems cool at first glance, but I don’t care about fancy interior if it’s not cared for: dust on the ceilings lamps, wet stains on the floor, etc. The interior plan of the space does not give off a cozy vibe, I felt observed most of the time. The music was too loud and pretty much gave off the young and modern taste of the young employees - not cozy at all. But the reason why I won’t visit the cafe again is: there are no toilets IN the cafe. You get a key, you have to go outside, through some door, downstairs into a basement (anyone can go there, it’s spooky) and then you open the restroom with your key and lock yourself in there. I ordered a brownie cheesecake I even asked if what they gave me is the cheesecake and not the one behind it and they confirmed! It was indeed not the cheesecake but the peanut caramel oreo cake it literally had peanuts on it they were just lazy to correct it. cake was as thin as air and fell apart. A mess I didn’t want on a hot exthausting Saturday. Iced tea was refreshing but contained just ice with one gulp of flavored water. Unfriendly staff and overpriced items. the minimal atmosphere and good menu options made me want to go there. I usually don’t leave negative reviews because one should have understanding towards employees not having to be forced to be kind or be always perfect, but the customers are humans too, we all have stressful lives and we want to enjoy the experience we buy with our hard-earned money. One of the most disappointing stores. Coffee and staff/service combined receive only 1 star. The employees (not all of them) are really unfriendly. The coffee tastes like boiled milk, 200 degrees, and I have to wait 15 minutes before I can drink it. Cleanliness is an unknown word for the store. There are many times that I drink my coffee in a table full of other people's cups, dirty, and the employees are just playing with their phones and laughing behind the bar. The only 2 good things about this place are basically the location and a few sweets. In the photo, only the 2 full cups of coffee are ours.
