My husband and I and a friend visiting from US had a wonderful dinner here. Food was outstanding! The strawberry, basil sorbet gazpacho was the star! Holy hell, it was amazing! We did the 6 course Klassik menu and our friend did a 5 course Vegetarian menu (she doesn’t like fish or venison)—and they did wine pairings. Both menus were solid and the flavors were distinct, surprising and delicious. The dark chocolate ice cream with pop rocks dessert was a perfect way to end the meal. Service was good but not great for a Michelin restaurant. Just not as polished (bread plate missing, serving dishes on both sides of you, sometimes pouring water-sometimes not) as expected. Our initial waiter who was great vanished during the middle of the meal, never to be seen again. We got lucky and there was an orchestra playing John Williams music in the castle courtyard. We got to hear most of the concert from our window-side table. However, they had to close the window next to us and only open little top windows in the other bays so the audience wouldn’t hear “clinking utensils”, which made it very hot and stuffy and made it uncomfortable. At one point, the noise from the kitchen was shocking
dishes clashing and banging and utensils clanging. It impacted the wowness factor of the vibe. All in all though, a memorable night with great food.

We went there last night for a dinner with my girlfriend. We had few things to celebrate and wanted to try this one star restaurant in Heidelberg. - Location is really nice, I have been in this corner few times and this is always beautiful - Food is at a really high level, fitting perfectly the one star Michelin and price are fair for a 5 courses menu. The girlfriend is gluten intolerant and they took good care of that. - Service is however far far away from what it should be... We had two different waiters not really following up or giving us a personalized experience. We had to ask two times for getting bread for starting, had to wait one hour for the first course, then waiting time were ok but the waiters were not really taking care and just running all over the place. We could see from the other guess that the wine were also not following on time, people always had to ask for that. That is not so good for a one star Michelin restaurant. All in all we had a nice evening, food is great but the service is far away from what you expect. Either the work on that and it is definitely a place to go or you can quickly be annoyed...

Recommended for special occasions! We've been here multiple times and have always had a great experience. The food is excellent, service is attentive and helpful, the views onto the castle courtyard and the old town from the castle balcony are jaw dropping and, last but not least, the wines (we've taken their recommendations for each course) have been good to superb. We were there last night and enjoyed the Heidelberg fireworks with a glass of champagne to finish the evening. What more could one wish for! It's not cheap but I feel the prices are reasonable for the meal quality and the amazing location.
