denkMAHL — Restaurant in Kassel

Quite disappointing experience. We were 8 people, who were excited to eat at the restaurant and try their Veal Escalope, however we did not get the chance to try it. First of all we arrived at 19 and they would not let us order food before 19:40. We only got to order drinks and we had to ask twice to order food. At 20:15 we got our food, however two of us who ordered the Veal Escalope (a schnitzel dish) got the wrong dish called “Omas Rinderroulade”, which was very different to the dish we ordered. Also one of us ordred a dish with pasta and it missed cilantro. Furthermore, one of us ordred a salad which they forgot to put sunflower seeds on. When we said it was the wrong dishes they served for us, they just said that we could wait another 20-30 minutes (remember that would be 1,5 hour after we arrived) or we could get a free coffee or dessert. One of the waiters ( the woman) was kind to offer a cocktail for the two of us who got the wrong dish. The other waiter (a man) seemed to be quite arrogant (and maybe semi-drunk??) and did not care for the fails they made and was rude to the female waiter. They could not offer us a discount of the dishes, because then the female waiter would have to pay that of her salery… Overall a dissapointing experience, which of course can happen...

Restaurant located in Friedrich Ebert Str, which is most popular place in the Kassel city town. Almost all the bars , disco and restaurants located in this street. I mean in the city town, of course many restaurants and bars all around the Kassel but here is the heart of the town. DenkMahl was dinner stop for us , they have small garden , insaid the restaurant have nice sitting area. Most of the dinner time is busy. Steak, pizza etc. Options they have. Beef steak was really delicious , tender, portion was big, about price if you compare another place was a bit higher. For 2 steak, one cola and beer we paid around 90 Euro, which is high. I know because I've tried many restaurants in Kassel. But taste really good. Staff was friendly, service not so fest. Denkmahl war eine denkwürdige Erfahrung! Nachdem wir ohne Reservierung noch einen Fenster/Gangplatz bekommen hatten, freuten wir uns auf ein tolles Abendessen. Das Lokal ist super toll hergerichtet und sehr ansprechend dekoriert. Die Toiletten sehr sauber. Das hatte mich, abgesehen von dem etwas unglücklichen Platz, schonmal überzeugt. Wir warteten ganz gespannt auf die Bedienungen, die wie wilde Bienen herum rasten, ohne von uns Notiz zu nehmen. Wir saßen direkt am Tresen, daher eigentlich nicht so schwer. Nach 15 Minuten bekamen wir dann doch mal die Karte hingelegt. Nach weiteren 10 Minuten hat man unsere Bestellung aufgenommen und weitere 10 Minuten später bekamen wir unsere Getränke. Das ging doch mal schnell! Ich möchte Verständnis zeigen für die Wartezeit, da das Lokal wirklich gut gefüllt war. Nach weiteren 32 minuten kam dann unser Essen...endlich! Ich hatte Hausgemachte Bandnudeln mit Shrimps bestellt, mein Partner Schnitzel mit Röstkartoffeln und Gurkensalat. Bekommen hatte ich Spagetti, welche weder Hausgemacht aussahen, noch schmeckten. Da ich so hungrig war und mich nicht mit der Bedienung auseinandersetzen wollte, aß ich meine Portion. Die Shrimps waren Klasse! An den Spagetti hat jegliche Würze gefehlt. Von der Soße war nur ein Hauch zu sehen bzw. zu schmecken. Das Gericht meines Partners war leider voll daneben. Die zwei kleinen dünnen Schnitzel waren mit Öl durchzogen. Die Panade ungewürzt und so mehlig. Hier war vermutlich das Fett in der Pfanne zu kalt. Bei den Röstkartoffeln war vom rösten nichts zu sehen und zu schmecken. Sie waren so fettig und ungewürzt das es leider nicht so toll war. Diese sind auch fast alle wieder zurück gegangen. Aber der Gurkensalat war toll! Auch hatte das Bier eine hervorragende Trinktemperatur. Davon haben wir zwei getrunken, da es ja so lange dauerte ;) Abschliessend ist zu sagen, leider Welten von gutem Essen und Service entfernt! Schade und ärgerlich bei diesen nicht ganz so...
