Café Niederegger is an enchanting haven for dessert lovers and coffee aficionados alike, nestled in the heart of Lübeck, Germany. As someone with a sweet tooth and a passion for a perfect cup of coffee, I can confidently say that this café is a true gem that exceeded all my expectations.

From the moment you step inside Café Niederegger, you are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cozy interior exudes a sense of tradition and history, as the café has been a beloved institution since 1806. The combination of elegant wooden furnishings, soft lighting, and delightful decorations creates a nostalgic charm that immediately makes you feel at home.

The star of the show at Café Niederegger is undoubtedly its marzipan treats. Marzipan, a confection made from almonds and sugar, is an integral part of Lübeck's culinary heritage, and Café Niederegger has mastered the art of creating the most delectable marzipan delights. From the moment you catch a whiff of the sweet almond aroma, your taste buds are primed for an exceptional culinary experience.

The café offers an extensive range of marzipan treats, from classic marzipan loaves and pralines to beautifully crafted marzipan figures. Each treat is crafted with care and precision, and the taste is simply divine. The marzipan has a delicate balance of sweetness and nuttiness that melts in your mouth, leaving you with a delightful aftertaste that lingers.

Pairing these delights with a cup of coffee is a match made in heaven. The café serves a variety of high-quality coffee blends, prepared by skilled baristas who understand the art of making the perfect cup. Whether you prefer an espresso, cappuccino, or a velvety latte, Café Niederegger ensures that each sip is a moment of pure indulgence.

Apart from the marzipan and coffee, the café's menu offers a wide selection of cakes, pastries, and other sweet treats, each made with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality. The service is impeccable, with friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to guide you through the menu and cater to any dietary preferences or allergies.

As a souvenir, you can also purchase beautifully packaged marzipan gifts to bring a taste of Lübeck back home with you. The selection of gift boxes and special editions makes for a perfect present for loved ones or a delightful treat for yourself.

In conclusion, Café Niederegger is a place of culinary delights that captivates not only your taste buds but also your heart. The seamless fusion of marzipan mastery, premium coffee, and a welcoming ambiance ensures an experience that is second to none. If you find yourself in Lübeck, make sure to carve out time for Café Niederegger – it's a journey into the world of marzipan magic that you won't...

My partner and I enjoyed browsing the selection of marzipan treats and learning about Lubeck’s relationship with the sweet in the free museum on the top floor. Afterward, we passed through the cafe on the middle floor, which had plenty of space, and decided to indulge in a slice of the ‘classic marzipan’ cake.

The cake arrived promptly, delivered by a moody looking waitress in her sixties, accompanied by questioning about why we only ordered one slice with no coffee. We explained that we had recently had coffee with lunch and didn't need more than one slice of cake, not that our daily calorie and caffeine intake had anything to do with the waitress.

Our explanation was met with a dismissive shrug and judgmental laugh, which we initially attributed to a potential language barrier misunderstanding.

However, as soon as we finished the cake, the waitress asked us to pay and then told us to leave the premises, stating that we hadn't ordered enough to remain seated and play a card game. Our service began at 13:59 and ended at 14:08, as indicated on the receipt Attached to this comment.

During an uncomfortable interaction, I informed the waitress that we would leave when we wanted to and suggested she speak to her manager if there was still an issue. Regrettably, the situation made my partner so uncomfortable that she felt she couldn’t stay.

On our way out, we spoke to the manager, who apologised, addressed the issue with the waitress, offered us a full refund, and gave us a free item from the gift shop downstairs.

The irony is the waitresses judgmental, money grabbing, and disrespectful behaviour cost the establishment money. The money we would have spent in the gift shop was lost as we were given what we wanted for free!

Overall, this experience would have warranted a 5-star review had it not been for the behaviour of the waitress. I’m always left a little confused as to why someone with a problem with tourists decides to get a job in a tourist hotspot?

The behaviour of the waitress was better suited to bygone eras and exclusive aristocratic establishments. Perhaps the waitress needs to be reminded that she is an employee of Café Niederegger and...

If you're visiting Lübeck, a stop at Café Niederegger - Stammhaus is an absolute must, especially if you have a sweet tooth or a love for marzipan. This historic café, located in the heart of the city, is famous worldwide for its exquisite marzipan creations, and it truly lives up to its reputation.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the delicious aroma of freshly baked pastries and a stunning display of marzipan treats in all shapes and sizes. From intricately shaped fruits and figures to classic marzipan bars covered in chocolate, it's like walking into a candy lover's dream. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with old-world charm and elegant décor that reflect the café's long-standing history.

We decided to start with a slice of their legendary marzipan nut cake, and it was heavenly. The combination of rich marzipan, nuts, and a soft, moist cake layer was perfect — not overly sweet but full of that distinctive almond flavor that Niederegger is known for. Paired with a cup of their freshly brewed coffee, it was a delightful treat that left us wanting more.

The upstairs café offers a cozy place to sit and enjoy a variety of cakes, pastries, and, of course, more marzipan creations. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and eager to share the history of Niederegger, which has been crafting marzipan since 1806. We also took a quick visit to the Marzipan Museum on the second floor, where you can learn about the origins of marzipan, see life-sized marzipan figures, and get a glimpse of how these sweet treats are made.

Before leaving, we couldn't resist picking up a few souvenirs from the shop on the ground floor. The beautifully packaged marzipan makes for a perfect gift, capturing a piece of Lübeck's history and culinary tradition.

In summary, Café Niederegger - Stammhaus is more than just a café; it's a Lübeck institution. Whether you're a fan of marzipan or simply looking for a charming spot to enjoy coffee and cake, this café offers a unique experience that's hard to find anywhere else. A true gem for anyone...
