ad 15+ Things to do in magical Leipzig 🎄 Here are some of the best things to do on your next trip to Germany’s music capital: 🎄 Visit the Christmas markets, eat all the food, try all the hot drinks and get a souvenir. I loved @kaethe_wohlfahrt but they also have lots of smaller independent ones 📸 Take some Christmassy photos with the giant tree inside the @maedlerpassage 🎻 Conduct your own orchestra @mendelssohnhaus It’s not hard, I promise 🎺 See a classical concert @gewandhausorchester The Gewandhaus is a world famous concert hall 📚 Admire the architecture at the University library 👩🏼🍳 Have a baking class at Bakery Kleinert 🎠 See the merry go round inside the Hauptbahnhof Plagwitz neighbourhood: 🎞️ See a classic movie @lurukino 🖼️ Spend some time at the @spinnereileipzig and see the art, exhibitions and meet local artists such as @biehne_porzellan ☕️ Have a cosy coffee and Glühwein cake @monolocoleipzig 🌭 Have amazing Hot Dogs @beardbrotherssisters For food I recommend: Gaststätte Kollektiv - If you want to feel what life in the GDR was like. The food was 10/10 The restaurant at the @panoramatowerleipzig - For views of the city and a chic evening @auerbachskeller - For a classic Leipzig experience, meet the devil and follow the footsteps of Faust 👹 And finally stay @viennahouseeasyleipzig for the best location and amazing staff Press trip with @leipzigtravel & @germanytourism #leipzigtravel #thingstodoinleipzig #germanytourism #lieblingleipzig #visitgermany #visitgermanyofficial #visitgermany🇩🇪 #leipzig #leipzigcity #leipzigram #leipzigartig #leipziglove #leipzigliebe #leipzigläuft #leipzigleben #germany #germanytrip #germany_greatshots #germany_insta #germanytoday #exploregermany #german_landscape #ilovegermany #travelgermany #germanchristmasmarket #germanchristmas #weihnachtsmarkt #christmasingermany #christmasmarkets 🎁

A restaurant with a rich history, delicious traditional German food and nice local beer. I wasnt really a fan of onion soup, found it a bit too watery. I was hoping more of a creamy one. The main dishes were very delicious. The local beer Gose also had an interesting taste that we didnt really expect. Very lime-y taste, almost like Radler but more sour and less sugary. Its a delicious light beer that would go well with a warm weather. Our online reservation request for the same evening got rejected due to the booking out due to easter. So we decided to try it for lunch time by just going there, that worked well. If you are going for a dinner, I definitely recommend you to reserve a table a couple of days ahead -esp during holiday times. Also plan your time a bit relaxed, as the service is not as fast. So definitely not a place for a quick dish, but rather for a long dinner with friends and family. Compared to the other traditional German restaurants that I have visited in other cities, I found the prices to be also a bit too high here. Still a recommendation for a unique local restaurant, to experience the rich history reaching to Goethe and to taste the nice German dishes.

Photo 1 is what they advertised. Photo 2 is what I received. And photo 3 is the dirty dishes robot where they stacked and kept next to my (and others table). Maybe this was a prime venue at one time but now it’s just a tourist trap. I had to chase the server down for everything and she had the nerve at the end to ask if I wanted to leave her 10%! Nein was my response. The same for recommending this place. Nein. 31 July review update. I just read the restaurant response. What dishonest nonsense. Yes, the Eagle-eyed responder noticed there was gravy on my cutlery. Why? Because I had to show the waitress how there was a half portion of meat buried under the sauce in a lame attempt to cheat me. After some back and forth she reluctantly brought a small additional piece of meat in a bowl to the table. No apology of course. So don’t try to accuse me of using my knife to eat the meal and then take a photo. That’s absurd and speaks volumes about the management of this place. And I’m glad to read that you may do something about the stacking of dirty dishes in the middle of the restaurant and amongst the diners. It literally smelled and is extremely unhygienic.

I spent a night in Leipzig on my way back to Switzerland from the Arctic Sea. I was recommended by the hotel receptionist to have dinner in this classic underground eatery, hence Keller, when I told her I wanted good local German food and a well produced Spätburgunder. I got a perfectly cooked filet of lamb, maybe not very pleasing to the eye, but more importantly, to the palate, followed by a local desert based on apples. The Spätburgunder was excellent. And the best was my waitress, serving about 25 clients with a speed and precision in her execution that I have rarely witnessed. Even les garçons in the Parisian brassieres would have had a lot to learn from her including how to give a good smile behind a face mask. Good value for money. High sound level.

My worst dining experience in Germany thus far... Waited 10 minutes for the menu, waited 30 mins for our orders to be taken, every single waiter/waitress pretended they couldn't see us calling them for menu/orders, we had to walk to the reception to ask for menu. When asked for recommendations, waitress gave us the frustrated look, then reluctantly recommended a random dish on the menu... Food was mediocre, underseasoned food, pasta with zucchini, tomatos and cheese were totally tasteless. Dark beer pork neck was just acceptable. The only thing we enjoyed was the dessert. Totally not worth the visit. Extremely disappointed with this highly recommended place... Poor staff service... If there's such thing as NO STAR in rating, that's what they deserve!

It is historical and beautiful restaurant. Many famous artists and literary people visited here and it said that this visiting helped with their creativity. I ordered the daily menu of German traditional cuisine and German Pinot Noir wine. It is really nice. I visited the restaurant before 6:00p.m. weekend and restaurants is almost full. Fortunately I can take a seat as soon as I arrive. When I get out from restaurant, many people are in the entrance and wait until a table is available. If you come dinner weekend, I would like to recommend you to visit early. This restaurant is located in the underground floor. You can enter from stairs that is beside the bronze statue of Faust and Mephist.
