Disappointing We had booked a table but could sit outside which was nice in this fine weather. (Plus we could watch some ill-tempered, angry-looking women in several hen parties passing by.) We were, again, reminded to be in Germany where not everything is about customer service as seen in countries like Spain, Italy or the UK. The service seemed nice, though, at the beginning. The beer was great. But: There arenât any vegetarian options on the menu, which we expected from our previous visits at Paulaner Frankfurt Airport. Kaesespaetzle usually are made with cheese containing rennet. The choice of salads was poor. We ordered two meat stews au gratin (Wuerzfleisch, a German specialty). The waitress could hear us talking about ordering other starters. But first our two dishes of crusty pork roast were served and when we pointed out we wanted our starters first we were told we hadnât communicated these were meant to be starters because some guests eat Wuerzfleisch as a side with a roast. Well, we donât, and maybe service can ask if those were possibly starters. So they told us our main dishes could only be kept hot. They arrived and the roast was not at all crusty, the tiny dumplings were rubber-like, the gravy (obvi not homemade) simply was not tasty, the sauerkraut was nice but reheated. Plus we had a fish meal which had also been kept lukewarm which didnât do the pike-perch and the potato mash any good, the lemon sauce was tasteless and the few tiny pieces of roasted vegetables were several cuts below average. Person 4 had ordered a salad which was uninspiring, but the promised piece of baguette was actually brought after we had asked twice for it. The waitress apologized. With our bill of over ⏠110 we left only a small tip and then it was bye bye Paulaner...

Dining at Paulaner was an unforgettable experience, not only because of the incredible food but also due to the exceptional kindness and attentiveness of the owner. From the moment we walked in, we felt truly welcomed. What stood out most was their willingness to accommodate dietary needs without compromising the authenticity of the dishes. As someone with lactose intolerance, I deeply appreciated their thoughtful substitution of the traditional horseradish sauce with a silky, flavorful creamy wine reduction for the Tafelspitzâan adjustment that was both considerate and delicious.
The food itself was simply outstanding. The goulash was rich and hearty, with tender meat simmered to perfection in a deeply flavorful sauce. The Tafelspitz was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the wine reduction added a unique depth that complemented the dish beautifully. For dessert, the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream was a perfect finaleâwarm, perfectly spiced, and delightfully crisp, with the ice cream adding just the right touch of sweetness.
Beyond the food, the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy German Gasthaus. The rustic decor, soft lighting, and welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely meal.
Itâs rare to find a restaurant that excels in both hospitality and cuisine, but Paulaner truly delivers. If youâre looking for an authentic German dining experience with a personal touch, this is the place to go. We will definitely be back! Grazie e a prestođ...
