Zur Klarstellung gleich eines vorweg: Das Essen bei Joe Penas ist richtig lecker, die Einrichtung interessant und stilvoll - aber warum dann nur 1 Stern? Ganz einfach: Das Bedienpersonal ist absolut indiskutabel und gehört am besten komplett ersetzt: lustlos, unaufmerksam und in einem Fall vermutlich tendenziell rassistisch. Ich war bereits im November mit einer dunkelhäutigen Freundin hier essen, schon damals fiel mir auf, dass die "Servicekräfte" dieses ansonsten wirklich guten Restaurants nicht dem Standard des Hauses gerecht werden. Es dauert ewig, bis man bestellen kann, und während die Küche echt flott und richtig auf zack ist, macht der Service im Gastraum alles zunichte. Doch der Grund meiner Bewertung ist ein Vorfall vom Abend des Rosenmontags (08.02.2016). An diesem Tag hatte meine Bekannte eine wichtige Prüfung an der PH erfolgreich absolviert und wollte sich zur Feier des Tages etwas Besonderes gönnen. Sie spricht übrigens hervorragend Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch. Und sie ist sehr höflich, deshalb wartete sie beim ersten Tisch, damit ihr ein Ober einen freien Platz zuweisen sollte (so unterwürfig bin ich nicht, wenn ich einen freien Tisch ohne Reserviert-Schild erspähe, dann setze ich mich dort, fertig). Geschlagene 15 Minuten wurde keine der Bedienungen auf meine Freundin aufmerksam. Das allein ist schon empörend! Dann endlich sprach meine Bekannte eine weibliche Bedienung an, die meinte jedoch nur, sie solle hier warten, der Kollege käme gleich. Der kam aber nicht, und nach nochmals ca. 20 Minuten verließ meine Bekannte wortlos das Lokal. Einfach skandalös. Ich bin mir sicher, das wäre einem weißen Europäer nicht passiert. Das Ganze wird noch unbegreilficher durch den Umstand, dass das Lokal keineswegs voll besetzt war und auch nicht überall Reserviert-Schildchen aufgestellt waren. Meine Bekannte hatte gleich darauf hingewiesen, dass sie allein wäre und nur einen Platz benötige. Es ist unter diesen Umständen fraglich, ob wir dort je noch mal hingehen werden, obwohl die Küche wirklich super ist. Wäre ich der Geschäftsführer, würde ich mir meine Belegschaft mal intensiv vorknöpfen und ein paar deutliche Worte wechseln. Sollte ich noch mal ins Joe Penas gehen (ich wohne im Schwarzwald), werde ich sofort den Geschäftsführer verlangen und diesen Vorfall zur...

This is a very popular place to meet up in Ludwigsburg. Booking is definitely recommended if you're a larger group or visiting at peak evening hours. The atmosphere is loud and lively. Very friendly and accommodating. They even have an a English menu. Service was good, absolutely no complaints Super easy to park with Akademiehof parking just next door. Drink menu was strong with lots of choice for cocktails. Food was OK. I do not think it did justice to the richness of Mexican cuisine and flavour.

In summary, go there if you want a fun place to meet up with friends and have some food and drinks. Do not go there if your focus is to get good Mexican food. 4 star rating in my opinion is fair because with the right mindset it's a really...

The nachos could use cheese throughout the dish and not just on top. You end up with dry chips. The enchiladas pollo: the Pollo was good. The corn tortilla shell tasted like it had been refrigerated, then heated up, and the sauce did it no justice. It would have been better with sour cream, verde, or cheese. The rice is very heavily tomato-based, as opposed to using the Sázon Goya bouillon to season it.

The service of the staff was top notch; however, my glass was dirty. I didn't notice until after I poured my drink into it. I chose not to say anything since I failed to notice the dirt.
