SUVI Modern Asian Kitchen — Restaurant in Mannheim

Delicious. We appreciated the variety of foods offered and had some Sushi first before the main dishes. I liked that the menu had a full vegetarian page with nice options. Unfortunately it was not clear which ones were vegan, I believe most of them would be (as they offered soy-based chicken) and such. I helped looking at the online menu to not be too overwhelmed 😆 We also felt that the portions were rather generous, which we liked. Loved that they offered kid's meals, however both included real chicken meat. We told them to not bring the meat, so they brought us two veggie dumplings instead. One server was interacting with our toddler and upon that brought her a lollipop and handed it to her directly. This is extremely frustrating to parents. Of course the server meant well, but now we have a toddler that at 9 pm wants to eat the lollipop RIGHT NOW and we have to deal with the repercussions of this. Another server came by a little later asking us if she could give our child a lollipop which we said, no thank you as she already received one.

So. Food was great. The place was pretty. Our server was nice and accommodating. So they get 5* from me. My husband disagrees because of the lollipop 😆 I really wish we had been asked about that annoying lollipop. As she wasn't allowed to eat it last night, our toddler spent most of today asking when she can eat it (plus Adventskalender, Christmas Market waffles and gummy bears from Grandma) - I really get frustrated that kids are given sugar so frequently without the parents okay. It is just plain unhealthy and unnecessary. (And often not vegan). Want to give something to kids? My girlfriend and I had a lovely dinner at Suvi Modern Asian Kitchen in Mannheim two weeks ago. The restaurant is located in a beautiful square near the main shopping area and has a cozy and romantic atmosphere.

The menu offers a variety of dishes from different Asian cuisines, such as sushi, noodles, curries, and salads. We ordered some appetizers, such as spring rolls and edamame, and some sushi platters to share. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The sushi was especially good, with thin and crispy rice, tender and flavorful fish, and creative and colorful toppings.

The service was also impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They gave us some recommendations on what to order and how to pair the food with the drinks. They also brought us some complimentary desserts, which were a nice surprise.

The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. We paid €49 for our meal, which included two drinks each.

We booked a table for Valentine's Day. There were problems with free space already at the beginning. no one warned during the reservation that payment was only in cash. after that we were given one menu for 79.90 euros for two and that’s it. there were no photos or explanations of what exactly would be on the plates. there was only lemonade and wine on the menu, when I asked for something hot, the waiter said that this was simply not on the menu today. no apologies, he was looking at me as if this was in the order of things. the atmosphere after was not great. The tables are small and close to each other. some are a step higher and people from above look at you from below and at your table, as was the case in my case, it’s not comfortable. Each type of roll contained avocado, which took away all my appetite. 80 euros for that amount of food was too much. in the normal menu they had dishes for two for 60 euros. didnt expect that service could ruin such...
