Perfect mini pastries, always accompanied by a tasting plate of new creations or classics like chouquettes and madeleines. The La Marzocco espresso machine and Supremo-roasted India Royale beans (80% Arabica, 20% Robusta) pair okayish with their delicate viennoiseries except the croissant which I do not recommend here.
The almond pain au chocolat, however, is overly rich in butter and frangipane, resulting in an inauthentic taste and crumbly texture with an almost burnt crust. Yet, its buttery abundance and salty touch evoke La Bretagne.
On another visit, I stopped for a quick lunch and tried the veggie quicheâbetter than German bakery attempts but far from the authentic quiches one indulges in France. Both the filling and dough were too thick, overly salty, and hard to finish; I couldnât eat more than a quarter. Yet, even at rush hour, when the line was long and the place was busy, the staff remained impressively efficient, and the queue moved swiftly, reminding me of the lovely hustle and bustle at every second corner of bakeries during rush hours in France. Only the cash recycler behind the cash desk and the shop bell...
Read moreI was here for a small coffee & a croissant, Tuesday 16.11.21 at about 14:00. I was helped first by one employee who couldnât figure out how to make a coffee. I paid him by card, then had to wait for the other employee to come make my coffee. This 2nd person was quite rude when I asked a simple question. When I left, I moved to a cafe 2 doors down, cozier & with better coffee. While sitting on their terrace, that 2nd employee from Boulangerie came over to me & claimed I never paid. Of course I had paid, but his coworker had already left for the day. He kept harassing me, so I told him to call the police. He came & went multiple times, each time harassing me & calling me names. At this point Iâd hoped the police would come, this was ridiculous! Iâve never been treated so horribly & for having done nothing wrong. Even if I hadnât paid, the level of unprofessionalism...
Read moreI went in to get a chocolate croissant and a hot chocolateâ⊠to which I really couldnât enjoy either because of the swarms of WASPS (bees?) everywhere. Some of the pastries that the employees will later serve to customers were COVERED in the insects - I should have gotten a photo. Itâs disgusting. I couldnât even finish my drink because the swarms of the wasps were flying all around me, so I had to leave out of fear of getting stung. Perhaps the bugs are seasonal, but I would NOT go back here anytime soon. The two stars is only because I got a sip of my hot chocolate in before I had to leave, and it did...
