Great experience of everything. The lunch offer was either 3 or 4 gangs, interestingly, one can also choose both seafood starters and let go the dessert. The "present" appetizer from the restaurant was a fried fish topped with caviar. A very good start that went well with the bread and set a good stage for the seafood starters. The scallop with sea urchin was cooked perfectly. Their own "XO Sauce" was a bold try that, albeit quite different from the original, played well with the dish. The original Cantonese XO Sauce is made from scallops or mushrooms, deep fried, and marinated in spicy sauces. The Brothers' version was not spicy but retain the full umami richness. Besides, a second scallop was served grilled, providing great contrast and delivering a similar Asian hint. The lake trout starter was quite similar to the Japanese sashimi with almost raw fish and grilled skin. A small piece of the fish was served separately with seaweed. We love that every dish came with a second small side dish showing more creativity. The main lamb was super juicy and tender, the deep fried potato balls were quite interesting and delicious. The artichoke was lightly marinated and reminded me of the Chinese sauerkraut. Interesting pairing that works well with the lamb. For the dessert, the pear was quite refreshing and overall a very balanced take. The second dessert was also perfect with coffee. They sourced beans from Man vs Machine, one of the best specialty coffee roasters in Munich, this showed that they are much deeper in the coffee game compared to other fine dining restaurants in Munich. Overall the whole menu felt very coherent and balanced, nothing was overly flashy or overpowering. Besides, the service was wonderful, and the restaurant has a very nice vibe. I can easily recommend the Brothers Restaurant to anyone looking for a Michelin restaurant that is not just fancy but also...
Read moreSimply one of the best fine dining experiences I've ever had. Not pretentious or stuffy, but rather relaxed and refined. Full tasting menu with the wine pairing and a few additional options are available to enhance the menu.
Absolutely zero mistakes made throughout the service from start to finish. The whole team was in sync and it showed. I sat at the bar and could see directly into the kitchen the entire time, it was a perfectly executed service. Markus and Tobias (the brothers) curate everything in the space to make you feel comfortable and welcomed, an absolute masterclass in being an excellent host. Chef Daniel and his team are fluid and thoughtful with the flavors, presentations, and techniques used.
Food highlights on this particular menu were the langoustine wrapped in knafeh and orange, the new brill dish wrapped in a squash blossom and served with a intense bisque like sauce, and the lamb served with perfect pomme frittes and a couple incredible lamb meatballs with yogurt on the side. The wine pairing was dynamic and wonderfully curated by Tobias. Desserts were wonderful and the petite four was a highlight rather than an afterthought as can so often be the case.
Of all the Michelin and fine dining experiences I've been lucky to have over the years, this has catapulted to the top of the list for myself. An absolute pleasure and MUST if you are in the market for these types of dinners. I will make it a point to come back anytime I am lucky enough to be in Munich...
Read moreMy wife and I can't say enough good things about this wonderful restaurant. We have been to a wide range of Michelin establishments from 1-3 stars -- this place is extremely special and a visit.
My wife, brother and I had the pleasure of dining here during our visit to Oktoberfest. From the second we walked in the door we knew we were in for a treat. We were greeted by the restaurant's namesake (Tobias and Markus) and their friendly front of house. Brothers accomplishes the impossible task of creating an elegant yet fun and approachable environment for its patrons. The tasting menu is world class with Markus and Tobias themselves proudly presenting each dish to us -- something almost unheard of at any other Michelin star establishment I've ever visited. The menu and wine pairings were eclectic yet had a logical flow -- another lovely quirk was the addition of complimentary house-made bread to mop up every last bit of jus, sauce and reduction (again something absolutely unheard of at any other Michelin starred establishment I've visited).
For anyone that is thinking about visiting Brothers -- go asap! You won't regret it. There is a reason why this place got its first star within ~4 months of opening its doors.
Final pro tip: Sit at the bar instead of a table. It provides a clear view of the kitchen and guarantees the best possible experience while you dine. Thank you Tobias and Markus!
