I used to recommend this place to everybody who was looking for a Turkish restaurant in Munich. However over the last three years the place got more pricey I feel like. The interior is clean but nothing special for Munich.
I came here for a special celebration dinner since my parents specifically wanted something Turkish and we frequented the place before. The food is good but not for that price.
We were quite disappointed to accumulate a bill over 120€ with the three of us. We had three main dishes, one small salad, one small desert and like four small soft drinks and finally three Turkish coffees.
The waiter was a great talker and upsold us in a very friendly way so we were already expecting something around 80-95€. After paying I wanted to check what was so expensive but the bill was just a generally, you payed this much, without any item specific listing so we also couldn't understand why it was so expensive.
Additionally my parents were upset that as Turkish place they did not offer some tea on the house at the end or waved the coffee prices. This is an old tradition in Turkish restaurants that a lot of Turkish places still practice and since we had good conversation going with the waiter and accumulated a good amount, my parents kind just expected them to do it as a sign of good wave.
Conclusion: The place has quite decent Turkish food, specially for Munich which in general lacks good Turkish restaurants to recommend friends. However price to food ratio is off now by quite a margin when also considering the the place sees it self as fine Turkish dining and it looks like any other restaurant in Munich from the inside. There way better options in Munich, that look better and have a better price to...
Read moreI have been to Ali Bey restaurant many times before and I always leave there with the same level of satisfaction.
The diversity of the menu, as well as the taste of the food is the first thing I love about them. Until today -doesn’t matter the starters or the main dishes- whatever I have tried, have all been very delicious.
Among the starters I usually choose the cold/warm starter mix plate, especially if I am there to enjoy a raki-night with my friends. I also choose Ciger as additional starter. Among the main dishes, I find their biber dolma (reminds me home) and Ali Nazik very delicious. From the grill my favorites are kuzu pirzola and dana şiş. Occasionally -if I can- I top it with the delicious künefe with the Turkish tea on the side.
Another reason why I prefer to go there is the ambiance. It is a quite nice and warm atmosphere, with a high ceiling, enough distance between the tables, as well as warm and comfortable decoration, basically not too much not too less. Also the level of the music in the background is easy to the ears allowing you to chat with your friends.
Last but not least, the quality of the service is far better than most of other Turkish restaurants I have been to in Munich. The personnel greets you with a smile, behaves according to your mood and is not pushy or absent like in other restaurants.
All these three components together make Ali Bey the first preference Turkish restaurant in Munich for me.
A big applause to Ali Bey Restaurant for making me feel at home. Also special thanks to Yasar Bey & Ali Bey and the whole team for keeping the quality at the same level every time I visit.

Read moreIt was a lovely place. The workers were very kind and friendly to us. They showed great interest to customers. We were there for my friend’s birthday last night and we ate liver with sauce (ciğer). It was superb. As a Turkish person who grew up in Balkans, I had so many good ciğer so far but this one was far the best! After most of the customers left, the owners even let us choose the songs we like and dance in the restaurant. Thanks to them, we could give my friend a birthday she will always remember! The only thing that I don’t like is that the workers didn’t dance with us despite all the insistance. But overall it was great! I think this place is worth...
