Finally! A legit place for authentic Chinese food! Honestly, the name of the restaurant "jiao" (depending on the tone of it) is a funny word for me and my colleagues, and we even made fun of it. That stopped once we tried the first dish and began having real fun eating real Chinese food. Every single dish was delicious! Started with some comforting bowl of chicken soup noodles, that reminds me of being in China. Next was their extremely savoury and fragrant Pickled vegetables fish. Although the fish has JUST a tiny bit of fishiness, but it goes so well with the soup. Do note that we asked them to reduce the salt in the dish too. Eventually, I was wishing for a bowl of white rice by then.... And then... Next dish, the Gong BAO chicken... Any tasting dish. Although it does looks and feels different from what I had before, but the taste made that redundant. The sauce was unlike what I had before, and as much as I don't appreciate cubes of chickens as much, but here's where I really was hoping for white rice! It will be a heavenly combo! And then come their house speciality fried rice... It may not be what I was hoping for (just normal white rice), but this is better, by itself! The rice was fragrant, tasty and it's hard to imagine anyone not enjoying it. There were some bits of rice that was not fully coated with the "sauce" but that didn't matter to us! It was soooo good! But then, the 3 of us were really full and then came the cabbage, it's good like every other dish but unfortunately we couldn't finish that. Most importantly, the night (esp coz of the dim lights) became brighter... As it's totally brighten up our evening with the extremely hard to come by great Chinese food. Anything that they can do better? Yes... Their recommendation of the alcohol was unusual... We just wanted something fun and light for the night and ordered some spritz, but not just the normal aperol spritz but their special concoction. 2 out of 3 were good, but the 1 that wasn't, was their house speciality again, and highly recommended. We asked if it was spicy as the German word on the menu suggested so, and then it came with a little chilli on top! And yes, it's spicy but also weird... We all had a sip and none liked it. Maybe they shd stop having this as a speciality or at least advice on the spiciness of it. And finally, do take note that most of their dishes has a tinge of chill in it, which I loved but not everyone. Overall, 9.5 out of 10. I will be back if I ever come here again (unlikely), but everyone who enjoys real Chinese food, do try...
Read moreIt's a very nice Chinese (probably Szechuan yet with other options) restaurant in the Arabella Park area of Munich. It may not be for everyone as spicy food prevails here and don't look for 100% authenticity as it is Germany and even within mainland China dishes may change from region to region and are reinterpreted closer to local tastes.
The hotpot dishes were both excellent, one was on the szechuan classic side and was quite numbing and tasty, not too spicy, the more regular spicy stock had plenty of red pepper and, at least to me, wasnt quite as enjoyable even though it certainly was good. I'm not a fan of letting fish, meat, mushrooms and vegetables sit together in a fridge and letting guests pick and choose themselves. Certainly when cooked for some time, any cross contamination of ingredient won't be an issue most of the time, but I would prefer to have restaurant staff do it, not the guests...
The duck dishes were fine, not anything to write home about but well prepared and the noodles / rice were fine as well.
I would certainly come here for the "hotpots" and spicy foods, they...
Read moreThe service here is awful. We were a group of seven, and each of us received our food with a five-minute gap between servings. I never received my food at all. After repeatedly asking for it, the staff ignored me, and in the end, I had to request a takeaway box just to get my order.
The management is the worst part. The food is overly spicy, and the menu lacks clear information. We ordered spring rolls, assuming they were vegetarian, but only later found out they weren’t. We had to reorder, and the wait for the vegetarian ones was incredibly long—especially considering they weren’t even a main course.
I would not recommend this place at all. Despite the nice interior design, the management puts in the...
