Credit where it’s due: excellent food and helpful staff except for our server Leo.
We were there to celebrate my wife’s birthday, of which I had already informed them. It’s ok if the server didn’t get the memo, it’s fine. But it’s not fine to make us feel unwelcome. It was a busy evening so a bit of slowness is understandable, but his reaction when I asked simple things made me feel he wasn’t happy to serve our table.
I asked him for the menu because he didn’t give it to us even after 5 minutes of being seated, and his reaction is like why am I being impatient. I asked simply because I wasn’t sure if they had a fixed dinner course or if we had the option to go a la carte. Anyway, we eventually ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco as aperitif, the 5 course set and a bottle of wine. He didn’t bother to let me taste the wine, just poured the full glass. Ok, let’s ignore that. Later, we are enjoying the dinner and my wine glass is empty for a good 10 minutes. He was serving other tables attentively, but refilled my glass only after I stared at him. And after the dinner I’m still not sure if we actually finished our wine bottle. I don’t recall him pouring it empty. If our bottle is finished, at a nice dining establishment like this, I expect the server to ask if we’d like another bottle! Didn’t happen. Didn’t even ask if we wanted another bottle of water. Eventually when we finished our dinner, we waited another 5-10 minutes and then I lost my patience and signaled to him to draw his attention and asked for the bill. Another few minutes then a different server presented the bill. I placed my card on the table and waited. After another 5 minutes of watching him walking around and serving other tables, I waved to him to take the payment. He brought the card machine and again with the body language saying why am I being impatient. By this time, another table who started after us (and sat next to us) had finished their dinner and paid. I was very reasonably impatient by now. No reason for him to feel I’m being unreasonable. Cherry on top - he tells me in broken English that the tip is not included in the bill. Now the bill showed 19% tax and another 7% something. I don’t read German so I’d assumed it’s the service charge, but since he said tip is not included, I thought ok let me add something. I told him to round it up for the total of €220 which amounted to about €3-4 as tip. Now this is not the US and as far as I know, tipping here works by rounding up, not by % of total. But his reaction was an arrogant “pfff” followed by swiping my card and throwing the card on the table and walking away without a thank you. Seriously? I tipped you based on how you served us and how you made us feel in contrast to how well you were serving the other tables. Are you racist and was this because we are Asian or was it because you thought I was unreasonably impatient - I don’t know, I can’t read your mind and you can’t speak much English. It’s ok if you don’t that’s fine, use your body language and smile to make guests feel welcome - don’t give me this bad attitude. This isn’t my first time dining at a nice establishment. In fact I chose Limoni after reading good reviews and I was expecting better service. Disappointed by...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant with six colleagues for an evening dinner. Surprisingly, the interior is more spacious than it appears from the outside, yet it maintains a modern and elegant ambiance. The service was remarkably adaptable, providing an excellent assortment of appetizers which came highly recommended. Our group included a vegetarian, and the restaurant accommodated us beautifully with a variety of delicious dishes. They also boast an impressive wine list. The lamb was exceptional, and the pasta was unmistakably high-quality. We were pleasantly surprised by two "greetings from the kitchen"—small intermezzo dishes that were delightful. Overall, this restaurant comes highly recommended. It's in the higher price category, but it's well worth it. We definitely...
