Swagat was highly recommended by an American friend living in Munich. Lovely atmosphere; excellent, friendly service. The quality of food is good, however, it does lack the bold flavors that make our Desi cuisine so delicious. The the naan was closer to a roti- but still quite delicious; the paneer butter masala and chana masala were both good- but again, lacking in the bold flavors that make the food melt right onto your tastebuds. The mint paratha was actually a disappointment and not eaten. I found the achaar too salty and the jasmine rice was cooked perfectly. The samosa was fresh and tasty, and our mango and passion fruit juices were also good. I was also very disappointed that there was absolutely no heat in the food-- nor were we asked if we wanted our food spicy or medium.
So how was this restaurant highly recommended? How does it have such high reviews? For my American friend and other non-desi reviewers who didn't grow up eating the cuisine as I did will find this restaurant's menu tasty. However, for me (and possibly other Desi people) this is an average restaurant. I look forward to trying other Indian restaurants now that I am moving to Munich- stay tuned for...

Read moreI took the Indian Chai, Chicken Soup, Butter Naan and Chicken in some sauce recommended by the waiter. The hot sweet Chai with milk was great, the main dish of chicken with sauce was very tasty, the sauce was high quality, the texture was creamy. The soup tasted ok but it was too liquid like water and there was nothing else inside except few small peaces of chicken. The Naan was good but they screqed it up by getting it in the musste and folding it so that the whole melted butter flew out on the tissue and soaked in it, so that it was not a bitter naan anymore but just plain bread...
The interior was authentic.
I want happy about the staff cause they first wanted to seat me at the table together with strangers but I wanted to sit alone at a separate table cause the place was half empty and I am also not used to shade tables with people I don't know in a restaurant with quite high prices. They seated me alone at a small table shock was not far from the entrance and every time someone opened the door a really cold wind blew on me which made me feel...
