Swagat was highly recommended by an American friend living in Munich. Lovely atmosphere; excellent, friendly service. The quality of food is good, however, it does lack the bold flavors that make our Desi cuisine so delicious. The the naan was closer to a roti- but still quite delicious; the paneer butter masala and chana masala were both good- but again, lacking in the bold flavors that make the food melt right onto your tastebuds. The mint paratha was actually a disappointment and not eaten. I found the achaar too salty and the jasmine rice was cooked perfectly. The samosa was fresh and tasty, and our mango and passion fruit juices were also good. I was also very disappointed that there was absolutely no heat in the food-- nor were we asked if we wanted our food spicy or medium.

So how was this restaurant highly recommended? How does it have such high reviews? For my American friend and other non-desi reviewers who didn't grow up eating the cuisine as I did will find this restaurant's menu tasty. However, for me (and possibly other Desi people) this is an average restaurant. I look forward to trying other Indian restaurants now that I am moving to Munich- stay tuned for those reviews!
