Taj Schwabing — Restaurant in Munich

Do not order for an event from this place. I discussed an order and they suggested a price. I called the next day to confirm the order and the price to which they agreed again. Then the night before the event, they called me saying the price they agreed on was not correct and now they want more money. If I want the price that they had offered I should reduce my order ( which won't work because of the number of people invited and they knew this) or if I want the same order I should pay more money or cancel the order. Keep in mind, this the night before the event and I couldn't afford to make any changes at this moment, so I agreed to pay the extra amount. On top of all of this, they accused me of somehow cheating them into giving a lower price! This is highly unprofessional behaviour and just downright dishonesty. I wouldn't recommend anyone getting these guys to cater for you unless you fancy a call a night before the event asking you to pay more! I wish I could give lower than one star or even a negative rating because this kind of behaviour deserves that kind of rating.

Edit: I had not increased the number of portions as they claim in their response. Also, they did not call me to confirm the order, I did at 1 pm. The only time they called was to say the price has now increased for the same order at 9:30 pm. So it took them 8.5 hours to realise the price increase apparently. They tried to put the blame on me on the phone as well and apologised when I pointed out that it was them who had quoted the original price. Also, the 'minimum requirement' of a day was not mentioned at all. Making a mistake is one thing but to continually put the blame on someone else instead of owing up is just ridiculous. I say it again, do not order...

Normally I don't write this reviews, but be here in this restaurant was unforgettable in a "very positive way". We were for business on Munich working very late - we look for some open places in Google & we were walking more than 4 places without success (already closed), heavy rainy close to 3 degrees outside & very hungry team. We arrived here to Taj Restaurant & we asked to the owner if the coucine still open & he said that he could open for us, invite us to come in, help us with the menu, gave us some paper towels, come to us & very respectfully recommend us some special dishes & with his son gave us to me & my four work colleagues (one from Spain, Brazil & Colombia) a very tasty Indian food.

The place, the flavors, but most important the human behind of this restaurant & his personalized service & attention makes me write this for him & his son. I will never forget this place - I fully recommend it & Please give the chance to discover "Taj Indian Restaurant in schwabing" & enjoy a good talk with Mr.Gurbachan Singh, the responsible of my 5 star experience. Food worth 25€ went straight to bin after tasting.

Ordered vegetable qorma and beef pasanda.

Vegetable qorma was boiled veggies in coconut milk with literally no spices, solid tiny pieces of nuts (desis would understand what i mean - that they were not in form of a gravy component but so solid that you could filter them out with a sieve). The thin yellow coconut milk „gravy“ was not much different in viscosity than water. Oh and btw, it was so sweet that i would order it, if ever again, as maybe a dessert.

Beef passanda smelled like bad tomatoes and onion gravy. At least it was savory and did not taste like sugar syrup (like the vegetable qorma). The pieces of beef were no different than if i cut up my leather shoe and add it to the gravy.

Bad ingredient quality and lack of time and any interest in preparing, were evident from the look, smell and taste of the food.

All in all, this makes it one of the two restaurants, that i will never eat anything again from.
